Default 2019 Z06 cooling enhancements?

From what I read here on this forum, the cooling enhancements done on '17 &'18 Z06's were not all that effective to cure the overheating/heat soak problem. Looks like on the '19 ZR1 they went all out to cure the problem. Has anyone heard if there will be a further enhancement to this issue on '19 Z06's that has plagued the C7 Z06 on the track since it's introduction?

Gary, maybe the 2019 Z06 will get the ZR1'S front nose which would be a smart move by GM to get future Z06 buyers who don't have the money to buy a C7 ZR1.

The ZR1 front fascia along with it's cooling components would be a great move. I doubt that will happen as it might take away ZR1 sales.

Since the over heating issue is really only impacting A8 owners that track their cars there isn't a large number of cars affected. The best solution for them is to find a place to mount a cooler similar to the M7 Secondary Radiator that brings A8 cooling capacity in line with the M7 cars.

nope, that's not going to happen. If GM updates the Z06 front end, it will be a clear admission of defect and will be force to fix the previous year Z. GM has always denied overheating issue and rather pay the lawsuits than do a recall all the Z06.

This would be a good idea! I don't care for the ZR1 hood as it detracts from the lines of the car, I prefer the sleeker, uncluttered look of the Z06 hood.

Default zo6 cooling

I live in Las Vegas and have had my 17 zo6 out at 115 degrees in bumper to bumper traffic with air on and it never went above 220 degrees

It happens on the track. Every time for me above 86 ambient.

That is a very different scenario than pushing the car around a track in hot weather.

That's totally false. They would never had changed the supercharger in 2017 if that were the case.

I hope they don't do it for a different reason: I think the new ZR1 front end looks like crap, with too many angles, lines, and materials.

I totally agree with your statement about the front end of the ZR1. I was thinking about getting one until I saw it. Different strokes for different folks, but I think it's FUGLY!

Manual Z06 cars overheated also. Your statement holds no water. And why would anyone mount a cooler after spending 90-100 THOUSAND dollars on a track car! GM dropped the ball. Period.

they never changed the charger. All the they did was put a taller lid to help the cooling fins which didn't work. Basically they try to cheap out and put bandaid over the problem instead of fixing it correctly.

The temperature climbed to what? Some temperature rise would be expected. Did it go into reduced power mode?

Don't believe that GM has solved any overheating issues with the ZR1 until somebody here gets one and says so. The Z06 car should never have been introduced with those overheating issues and the fact that they had a few years to think about it, fix it and recall them for repair is appalling.

GM also knows that enough of the people here that want to dump their Z06 will line up to get the ZR1. If they solved nothing then all the complaining will begin just in time for the C8 to take the stage.

Almost all street cars will overheat at the track if pushed hard enough. This is doubly true if track tires, hi-po brakes, etc., are added to the car so that limits and stresses on the car increase. One of the first mods people make if they plan to track any car hard is to increase cooling capacity.

Do you have an 2017 M7 that you have overheated on the track?

Mine has done fine in Florida summer heat.
