Default I'm sure I'll win dumb question of the day

So I ordered this set of Floor Mats and they arrived today for my 72 and I have tried them on both sides turned both ways and they don't fit, especially on the passenger side. How should they be oriented or are these typically just a wadded up mess? To add to that, I called the supplier insisting they didn't fit and they sent me the same set again! This is so elementary I'm embarrassed.

They don't really fit, especially if you have added sound deadener.
I spent some time with a heat gun and got them pretty close but still had a few bumps.
A season laying in the car with hot weather helps let them settle down

it seems they are a generic type, and can be used
on many years of corvettes , and not fit any year well

I do have sound deadner in the car and I can't get my passenger side to go up as far as you have yours either.Guess I'll wrestle around with them this weekend. Thanks for the pics, that's the way I was trying to put them in. Confirms I'm not losing it!

I have the same set in my 72.....They fit about like Mooser's do. I have seen the nicer carpet ones and they don't fit much better.

Those are exact reproductions of the originals. These black rubber floor mats were a dealer option for the C3 and used through 76. Part number #994401. The way you have them on the floor is the way they were intended to be installed. Like "Mooser's". I think some vendors are also selling them in a clear plastic.
Think they were only about $8 or $9 bucks back in the day. I have them in my 73 and fit the same as pictured.

Hi,
Here's the set I bought and used in 1971.
I applied paint to highlight the emblem details.
I believe the mats were also available in clear vinyl which became quite 'stiff' and turned almost an 'amber' color pretty quickly.
Regards,
Alan

Hi Alan,
By the visible wear mark on the driver's side mat it looks like you really drove your car quite often before your beautiful restoration.
Happy Holidays!
