72 Vette w a Lemans Tilt front end
so i just purchased my first Vette 3 weeks ago, a 1972 Stingray hot rod. Actually, I traded a 74 Camaro for this 72 Vette. Yes, I know I did well.
Fun toy, lots of upside. Yet as cool / unique as is the tilt front end; I have some concerns on its stability. I realize there only 4 touch points with the levers and hood latches, but how much movements or bounce would be considered normal with a tilt front end?
im not changing the front end, Im just looking for peace of mind or a reasonable expectation for these type of tilt front end
Thank You
C

Show us some pictures of the attachment system where it tilts and also where it gets latched down.

You reference a tilt hood. I'm wondering if you mean a tilting front end. Pics would help.

Hi C,
This what is appearing in your last 2 posts.
It appears to be links to several photos piled on top of each other.
I tried separating the images but they still led no where. (Mac).
Regards,
Alan

Your pics do not work for me,
You can email or text them
The13bats@aol.com

Tilt clips, like ecklers normally pivot up front and lock with pins in the rear,
Some of us who love them add more to keep them a bit more ridge,
And they can be just as ridge as stock,
Since im not there looking at yours i dont know if its right or not,
You can email or text them

You are way better off taking the 5 minutes to learn the easy picture functions here rather than have people do it for you. Its a matter of clicking on the paper clip icon or the picture icon... heres step by step instructions:

What may help is find areas under the nose where it comes close to the firewall. Areas where the bonding strip were should work. Then try some foam weatherstripping. You will probably have to experiment with different thicknesses til you find one that will provide some support and let you latch it easily. The peel and stick tape might not be durable enough to hold. Might need trim adhesive. Make sure what works before gluing on.
