Default Very loose valve guides.

These are off of a bone stock 2007 ZO6. It has 88K miles on it. I can't believe there's no window in the side of the block.

I want to make it clear that this is NOT my car, belongs to a friend. I have yet to even lay eyes on it. There was a small amount of confusion I want to clear up.
Mine only has 20K something on it and has LME heads.

You lucky sob.

Jerri will be along shortly. You’re measuring the play wrongly and it’s probably fine.

I'll have full results reported to me by this weekend. I'll bet the exhaust valves even have cracks in them.

Waiting for the naysayers to chime in who say the "wiggle test" is not conclusive.

Hahaha those are terrible!! Word of advice. Unless the intake valves look awesome which I doubt I'd seriously consider replacing them all. Once that coating is gone you're screwed.

One other thing, the guy told me that it was one of the quietest valve trains he has heard yet. I guess because there was no friction

I would think it would have been burning oil and making a lot of noise.

No, and that's the point.. GM tried to tell owners "as long as there is no excessive noise or a check engine light on (sic), don't bring it in.."

Is he going to sell them? If they made it that many miles I would be interested in them more so than ones that only made it 10k miles.

Wow. Personally, that's the worst I've seen. Crazy.

It's funny...I have a 2000 Silverado that I bought new. It has the 5.3 and has 270K miles. Makes all kinds of racket when I start it after it's been sitting for a few days, but after about 45 seconds it sounds fine. I've often wondered how much play there is in those valve guides? Lol...
