Mojave Magnum April 2018 201.2 MPH
I just got back from the Magnum yesterday. I got to meet several Forum members including Chuck with his SC C6 GS. Josh B crewed for me and it was good to meet him again, first time was back in 2011 at the Silver State Challenge.
My 09 Z06 is a good HCI build, tuned on 91 Octane gas we have out here, build details are here:
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...sd-intake.html
To the point, results:
The chassis is mostly stock with AFX Performance lightweight rotors front and rear and standard Bilstein Sport shock. The HCI build has 11K miles on it.
Run 1 was with my OEM size PSS front and rear. It spun badly in 1st and on the 1/2 shift and broke loose in 2nd, then hooked the rest of the way.
Runs 2, 3, and 4 were with brand new R888Rs in the 325/30-19 size on the rear. The car still required throttle modulation in 1st to hook, but was mostly OK on the 1/2 shift and fine afterward.
On the 2nd run the winds were quartering from behind, probably 8 MPH tail component. Josh B crewed for me and said the DA was 4245 for that run (Mojave is at 2600' elevation). On the 4th run the tail wind component was probably around 10 MPH, DA 4590'. Winds all day were gusty in the 10-25 MPH range, sometimes from the side , sometimes from behind and sometime behind at the start and across at the 1 mile and finish line. Overall the car behaved well, Gm full width rear spoiler and a ZR1 style front splitter, about stock ride height. It did move around some due both the the unevenness of the runway at 200 MPH and the gusty side winds, but it was manageable ( better than my 325/30-19 MT ET SS at 140 MPH).
Doing 200 with my Z at the Magnum has been a goal since I did 196.5 stock back in 2012 with very strong tail winds. Back then I was running 173.5 in the mile, now up by 14 MPH with the HCI work.
In late 2015 I started researching a build that would fit my needs and goals. Josh B helped and my final build was close to what Josh had back then before he dived in deep with his mods.
Thanks to Cordes Performance Racing who came to me highly recommended by many forum members down in the Valley. CPR worked with me to get the build done right. Joe, Justin, Mario and Bryan were great to work with and others at the shop and dyno contributed as well.
NicD does their tuning and listened to me on how I use my car (1/2 mile events at 800', 90-mile 150 MPH events at 6000', road course stuff from 300' to 1200' and the big goal, Mojave top speed runs with nearly 1-mile flat in 5th gear at 2600' elevation). Since I do a lot of street driving and E85 is not generally available to me at home or near most events I do, I nixed flex fuel, which means Nic needed to work with our crappy 91 for the tune on the good hardware. I do mix 100 octane in at many of the performance events and have occasionally used some Torco when 100 was not available just to avoid detonation and any further spark retard (currently it is set at 19* advance). Thanks Nic.

Oh, did I mention one of the R888Rs was where the passenger seat normally is? The right outside mirror is useless when I put it in the seat and that wasn't a good idea on the 420 miles OW. I had a lot of stuff in the car besides the air dam and the two 325s.

There were several new members to the 200 club (and 225 and one in the 250 club with a new Magnum car record of 266 MPH). I don't know the specifics, but few went over 200 that were N/A like my stock bottom end LS7 with a 91 octane tune. Last Thursday the compression test showed 199-201 in all cylinders, not bad for 57K miles, Heads were done, including milling .030, by WCCH at 46K miles

Very nice. The c6z is a capable platform. 196.5 stock in 2012 is quite a feat. And high 180’s at the mile marker today on up to 201 is outstanding.

Congratulations, awesome speed :-)
I'm not familiar with the Mohave Magnum time cards - are those just your speeds at the 1/2 mile and mile? Two cars running side by side? Why does #1 have three speeds and the others have two?

I got the 200 MPH tee shirt at a presentation and they won't give/sell extras to crew, they are only for the driver.
I will get a good speed certificate for the 201.2. I will probably put it in the frame where my 2012 stock pass of 196.5 is now. I take a copy when my car goes to our local show (never win there as stuff hitting the car at 150+ doesn't make for a pristine car. I have nice spider cracks in the front fascia where I hit a bird while clocking 162 MPH in the Silver State event.

Single vehicle on the runway at a time. 1, 2, 3, and 4 were my four runs in proper sequence. MM is set up to give you your trap speeds at 1/2 mile, 1 mile and 1 1/2 mile. On the first run all recorded so I was at 158 at the half mile. They were having trouble with that timing so my other three runs did not get a 1/2 mile posted time. Thanks for your interest

It was great to meet you again Dave and awesome to watch you break into the 200 mph club. Mojave is a nice facility, I might have to install the safety equipment and join the fun next year.
