Default Zip Products

Has anyone done any business with Zip Products? Specifically purchasing under-hood painted parts. I had ordered an Arctic White Fuse Box Cover on May 28, 2018 and I'm still waiting for it. It's now July 7th and they still can't tell me when it will even be shipped. They keep saying it's 4-6 weeks for painted parts and now they say that doesn't include the shipping time. I think that 8 weeks is an awfully long time to wait for any part.

So my other question is do any forum members know who does the manufacturing of these painted parts and do they sell directly? My thinking is that since Zip Products is a reseller they parts don't get the priority that the manufacturer would give it's own customers.

Thanks

They are located 10 minutes from me and I have purchased a variety of items (mostly C2-3) over the years and have always received first class and professional service from them.
They are most likely just waiting on production form the maker which is fairly typical for this type item. It hasn't been 6 weeks yet, I'd just be patient as opposed to creating a thread as if they've done
something wrong.

I have ordered a lot from ZIP and always without issue. In fact I usually check with them first when I need something. If items are in stock then I receive them the next day with their least expensive shipping option. I have called them several times too and they have always provided great customer service.

Was just wondering if any other members have had a problem with them.
Let see how long it takes to receive the item and I'll post back later. But I would like to find someone who manufacturers the parts so I could buy direct.

Funny I ordered under hood painted parts from Zip, admiral blue, on 5/29 and am getting the same response you are.
Fuse cover and brake booster. I’ve never had to wait this long before. Was able to get a custom airbrushed hood liner in less time. Last update Zip provided was they’ve had an unusual large volume of orders, sounds like an excuse...

I've learned my lesson from various vendors and tend to call to see if they have parts in stock before I order. I do understand that many don't manufacture parts and they too have to wait on the manufacturers. There are some parts that will have a wait period, as they aren't stocked by the manufacturers.

It must be a pre-supplier to them that is causing the hold up. I have only good thing to day about them.

Since we ordered the same items and only one day apart we will have to keep in touch and see what and when it happens.
They are SUPPOSED to call me tomorrow to let me know where the order is. In there defense they said I could cancel and get a refund.
But after over a month do I really want to start over with someone else?

Exactly, Zip certainly aren't painting these parts and are totally dependent on the manufacturer. If the manufacturer gets backed up on orders,
it obviously creates delays in Zip shipping the items. I'm sure Zip wants to sell/ship these items as much as you guys want to get them.
Zip are good Corvette people who have been doing business in Mechanicsville VA for as long as I can remember and have a beautiful complex including their Wells Fargo trailer dealership
and their Zip Corvette center/showroom/warehouse/shop. If any of you are ever traveling through Va on I-295 do yourself a favor and stop by to see them.
They have a lot of cool stuff and typically a few beautiful Corvettes on display for sale in their showroom.

And No, I don't work for Zip, I'm just someone who appreciates honest, successful, well-run family owned businesses who help support their communities.
Seems with the massive growth of Corp America, there's fewer and fewer of these businesses everyday.

Zip Products is a good company with good management. Please give them the 'benefit of the doubt'.

I am sorry this is taking so long and yes we do not manufacture the items. These are parts that are built to order by RPI, they have had a high volume of sales lately and it has slowed the process that already is taking a long time at 4-6 weeks. When you call and ask for an update, we are giving you the update from the manufacture. They are the only ones that make these parts and it is who supplies everyone with them. The length of time has ZERO to do with us not caring about the order of the part because we do not make it. At the time of the order 98% of these parts do not exist, that have to be made and then painted and that just take time, especially when there is a big back log of orders. You can only make a part in a mold so many times in a day, which is usually once depending on the type of part and mold makeup. I wish we could speed it up, but we can't and we will work to keep you updated and get the parts as fast as possible to you.

Well it's here. It took them just about six weeks. I have to say the work is excellent. I'll post a photo as soon as I install it.

Glad it worked out for you. I have bought many parts from them and have always had the best results. I only bought one painted from them and that was a spoiler for my 08. Fortunately they had one in stock in velocity yellow matched perfectly. I am lucky and only live about 2 hours away and its great drive through some back roads for me to get there even though it costs more to rive than shipping costs. Great people there

Whenever you order custom painted items, it's going to take time. I'm glad everything came within the pre-prescribed time, Bob. Looking forward to pictures.

Glad things ended well, as I expected they would. Just hope everyone who viewed your opening post followed the thread to conclusion, rather than leaving thinking Zip were deadbeats.

I live less than ten minutes away from ZIP. I have never purchased anything from them (yet), but they are extremely supportive to our local Corvette club and host a huge Corvette rally on their property at least once every year. I have never heard anything negative about them at all and their people are extremely knowledgeable about Corvettes of every vintage.
