Dart SHP block
well I'm having to replace my block in my 77 after pulling engine and removed intake and found a very small weeping crack in lifter valley. So I'm going to build a 406 or 414 but need help with new oil pan for added capability(6qt). Looking at Moroso 20180, thats stroker clearances up to 4.125 stroke but is there issues for fitment? Thanks
Robert

I have a dart block 383, and I am using a Champ pan. https://www.champpans.com/
Real nice fitting pan with thick flanges.

brief look at shp tech sheet indicates shp accepts OE type pan.
? what are you gonna do with car?
? Set it up for (1) straight-line race OR (2) set up for spirited right&left turns? ... if neither, use an OE vette-type pan.
if #1 use a drag pan ... but they're usually about 8" deep or more and often hang low enough to "drag" or "hit" driveway ingress-egress.
if #2 use a road-race pan ... or modify a circle track pan by adding a another door. Both usually about 6 3/4" - 7" deep.
your OE 77 is junk right? .... for about same money as shp block alone ... you can buy ALL NEW gm iron Vortec head Roller cam crate motor GM pn 12530283. There's some on ebay for under $1800 delivered. Take that motor and for under $1K total you can pay the local machine shop to finish the fuel pump mount pad, add a larger roller cam, 1.6:1 rockers, better valve springs & retainers and it'll easily make 375-400 fwhp. No it won't be a stroker. It'll be a strong, reliable 350 for small money. A viable option.

If you are set on an SHP block, Milodon makes these pans that will fit that block -
SHP Pans
I'm using the 30909, but I have a 4" stroke. Ran a 406 in an OE block a while back, it also made monstor torque. That was a less costly build, even with AFR 195 Heads - but that can depend on a lot of factors, and I was lucky to find an unmolested 400 SBC with a rotating assembly. When I went SHP, I also went with a pre-built short block to save effort and some cost on my part - Some shops will sell well-built 400 and up SHP short blocks at a reasonable price, so if your set on an SHP block, you may want to check out something like this:
Short Blocks
You may be able to find better prices but I found those guys to be pretty good.

Champ, Canton or Milodon.......with Canton being the best........Moroso is ok.....but a crap shoot if the thing fits even the block it was designed for.
I personally love my 6 quart LT-1 trap door Vette pan........but driverside dipstick
