In a few days the snow will be cleared, the driveway won't be solid ice anymore, and the Vette comes out again for its second time. But I can no longer stand in the shadows!
Got a 2000 C5 Coupe with 29K km a year and a half ago, and enjoyed for the first time what it was to drive a Corvette. It passed inspections and every sortie went well until one chilly October morning I activated the rear window defrost - check engine goes off, console and headlights start flickering like some old neon about to burnt out. As I stop at a red light I figure I'll turn the car off and on again (I'm a brilliant man I swear!). Nothing happens, and even the emergency flashers refuse to do anything. Lots of swearing later, I push the car out of the intersection and wait for a tow truck with my father. Half an hour later, a nice and clean white C6 passes by and enters the police station lot nearby. Lo and behold, its owner comes around to chat. Thinking it's a very dead battery and/or alternator, we check the battery condition, just to find out that the positive terminal was loose. A few multitool turns later, the little yellow car starts on the first try with all dials in the green! Woohoo! He left me his card, and the motto "You never let a fellow Corvette owner in trouble". I had thought this forum was amplifying reality, but quite the contrary! I won't forget this fellow owner kindness anytime soon!
Turns out the battery hold-down bracket was missing and causing the battery to vibrate around - which was an easy 8$ fix.

Great story and one that would be a good fit for the C5 General section. Moving the thread over there.

Welcome.
Nice looking C5. Glad it was a simple fix. Corvette owners stick together.
