While on my facebook page a C8 blog popped up a NYC drive in the 2020 rear engine corvette , I am open to any change and with out question Know any new corvette ride is a comparison of Buck board to space ship when we compare our C1 cars to modern
But that said I posted my opinion with a photo of my favorite 61 and many responded with kind opinions as expected in agreement and some kind opinions opposed to the C1 also expected .
I believe that the new rear engine general motors endeavor if even a true reality should be called a CORVAIR in case it becomes a failure . this way the corvette front engine car may keep its time tested flags flying . Good or bad and keep this tread moving along guys

If GM designed the car as a mid-engine car like my NSX, you will not be disappointed. My car is a joy to drive but a tad too under powered. If the C-8 has 100 HP over my car, it will be a killer in all respects. Jerry

Once more I say that I FULLY recognize that ANY, repeat, ANY Corvette later than a 62 model is a MUCH MORE technically advanced car. Period!
They have more power, better handling, better braking, more power options, better tunes and air conditioning. And with time, these features became better, more dependable, and the technology that followed is almost rocket science.
BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT, the bottom line IS---------------------they ain't got the magic of the 53-62 models----------------------or the 63-67 models!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NONE, repeat, NONE of the new Corvettes trip my trigger!

Now, with all that said, it is sad, and I DO NOT UNDERSTAND, why SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many people in the late/new model Corvette community look down their nose and snob (c'mon, admit it you know who you/they are) the early Corvettes and their owners. I virtually avoid any and all Corvette gatherings because of all the holier than thou people.
Yes, the 53 was the first Corvette, but it was the 56--------------NOT the 57------------that literally saved the Corvette from being discontinued. And by 62, the Corvette had established itself and was on its way to greatness. These are the cars that need to be recognized and acknowledged as the reason for the existence of the Corvette today!!!!!!!!!

too much invested for it to be a failure, I see it as an evolution, our cars will never be again and will continue to hold a place in history no matter what becomes of the C8.

I saw this week that GM announced the END of front engine Vettes in 2019.
There were rumors that they would continue to make BOTH models (mid and front) for several years going forward.. but no, 2019 will be the last.
I read a rumor that the C8 will only be offered in Automatic trans... I hope that's wrong.

I was in the Corvette Corral at Long Beach last week... almost EVERY C7 driver was older than me (I'm 54).
They have a loyal customer base... but it's getting OLD!
Gotta do something to attract younger buyers!

It's a reality, and it ain't no Corvair. It's mid-engine, not rear engine. There is a big difference (duh).
I'm not buying one, but I will admire them when I see them.

Like the man said ...... It's mid-engine, not rear engine. I think it's gonna be a great car and it will be a CORVETTE ! The Vette has always been a world class sports car and this new one will be also. IMHO the mid engine design is loooong overdue. I have owned several ME cars and the performance has always been mind boggling.

Oddly enough I find myself wanting one----or getting a good deal on an 'old C7'.

With all the HP wars lately they really need to start thinking of Awd. The C6 Z06 I had was spooky even though it had a mere '505' Hp.

With a base of $62K, any engine must be an option I think.

I agree. Any Corvette past the 73 MY seldom gets my attention, the C6 years come closer to capturing some magic. The early Corvettes are a driving adventure, environment and machine telegraph back to mans senses. I can't connect to the later Corvette versions, to me they are just a drive across town. Same with aircraft, I'll stop and take notice of propeller aircraft, jets not so much. In short, the later Corvettes are more comfortable and are technical accomplishments but "It don't mean a thing If it ain't got swing."

Me too. I find myself trolling the C7 Dealer Inventory threads... There are some pretty amazing deals right now on NEW C7s.. Inventory is HIGH with the C8 around the corner. Plus Chevy is offering a $3000 Corvette Loyalty discount for anyone who owns a Vette - any year! Seeing many new Vettes priced $10K-$15K under sticker right now.

I agree with you. Technological marvels, especially for the price. But utterly lacking in soul. And way too often I hear about nagging defects, like beautiful wide alloy wheels not covered by warranty that crack when you drive on them. And wonderful digital information screens that glitch up, etc, etc. No thank you.

My 72 Pantera rides as smooth as silk and still corners like a cat.

I'll bet GM goes full tilt on track performance on the C8 and it will ride like an unsprung buck board (like my C6 did). For that reason, I won't even consider buying one.

Didn't some of y'all find the suspension setting ****?

Wheels bend and crack when running over high railroad tracks and curbs with the setting on "Track", And then the customer complains on the boards that the car was delivered with bent wheels....

In Tour mode, the C7 Z06 reminds me more of a Lexus.

The only thing I find annoying is road/tire noise, even with added sound deadener, it can be loud on some roads.
