C7 build configurator on Chevy site now shows Performance Air intake
My dealer called today (Tim Boone) to let me know that my Grand Sport is on the way here!
So tonight I was messing around on the chevy site, comparing builds for fun, and I noticed that they have now added the GM performance air intake setup in the build configurator. That's odd because I'm 95% sure it wasnt there when I selected the options for the Grand Sport. Since I'm in CA, this appeals to me, as it doesnt affect warranty or smog. They claim up to 17hp gain from it...seems high, but idk. What are your thoughts on this setup? They're asking $690 for it on the site.

It was just added to the ordering guides on May 20th.

GM Intake
It looks Good, and it changes the engine sound with hood open when revving motor. As for actual power increases, I am unsure. I vote yes

I agree that Vararam works, and no smog for years on new car, but what about warranty, and taking my car to dealer for engine problem?? I'd like to get the Vararam, but it's not worth the gamble if it will botch my warranty

Weird question, Why would they add this if they are stopping the production soon?

When you ordered your car, it wasn't available. It was removed for quite sometime. I researched it and basically GM had such a high demand for it, they sold out and had to have the supplier make more. So you can still get it and add it on and keep your factory warranty and won't have any smog issues. However, I would recommend one of the aftermarket intakes because you will get horsepower gains out of them. You will probably only get about 8 rwhp from the factory intake where you can get 14 rwhp to 16 rwhp with the aftermarket ones based on having a grand sport.
Thanks, Tim - I know it wasn't available back then - I did several builds and never saw it. I think I will skip this one for now - I may not even do an intake, or much else, on this car. My Audi is my "fast" car. This GS is going to be a great all around car for the wife and me... that looks like sex. LOL
