I know - I know - this is a CORVETTE forum, but I figger y'all have had a bunch of different stuff over the many years.
I've got a customer asking me if he can go to 15" steelies on his 65 Chevelle, & what kind of width will fit? (I used to deal in steel wheels back when I had a source for them). The rear wheel openings on these year Chevelles were a bit tight, so I'm not sure what to advise him. I still have a set of 15x7" GM's but not sure if they are going to cause interference for him anywhere? Any advice or knowledge appreciated!
On my 65 Chevelle convert I have 15x7 GM 5 hole Rally's on the back with 235/75's. I have to jack the car way up, put jack stands under the rear frame rails, and then lower the rear end all the way down just to get them in. The trick is to kind of roll them in from the rear instead of coming in from the direct side like you tend to do.
I have 15" X 8" Cragar SS wheels with P225/60R15 tires. The fronts are fine but the rears are very tight. As per Corn Fed above I have to remove the bottom shock to get the tires installed. I also have stiffer springs and car's ride height is higher than stock. If your car is lowered it will be more problematic... Al

I like your white letter tires. Are they brand new? Does the white lettering turn brown overnight and impossible to stay white?
My tires are 5 years old, easy to keep the letters white and clean. I got stupid once and kissed a curb. Fortunately I did not hit the rim but the white letters took a beating. They clean up nicely with SOS pads or use MEK to remove tare and road dirt... Al

...but with caution and in a well ventilated space...
