ACC Carbon Fiber Lighted Door Sills

There is a video that points out the sizing problems that ACC swears is not an issue, "nobody complained"
I can tell you I have met quite a few that have had problems, most just lived with fit. If you look at their pic you can see terrible fit, I have seen even worse where edge kind of bent around outside of OEM groove.
I was going back and forth with them myself, but after seeing what they consider a good fit.. I realized we are speaking different languages.. lol. No way that was good enough..
Upon getting the OEM sill plates out using plastic auto pry tools. I can send anyone a pic to show underside where tabs are to make it easier if they want. I cleaned area up and laid these in the opening. Not even close, they scrape the sides and there was no way they even mimicked the shape of my fiberglass area they drop into. The edges were not even same shape.
I had to basically tape and measure shape on my car and start sanding down and machining the edge to fit my car so edges fit into car. Not outrageously off, but subtle enough not to fit my car.
I found shaving off a little at a time then testing fit was time consuming, but got the best results. If you watch that video he had same problem. His carbon it and did not have Stainless issues like me. (Lucky guy) Once you trim back carbon and plexiglass light can bleed through sides. He left his. I opted to trim a slight amount more and cover edges with Ultra Black High Temp Silicone to recoat edge and prevent light bleeding around sides.
I only had to trim right edge on Drivers Side, but unfortunately Passenger side was way off. I had to trim stainless on both sides and coat carbon and plexiglass.
The area you need to drill a small hole to get into sill area is remarkable small area. They picture it. It is a 1/4" area in corner right on seam with sealant on it. It is only way in there. If you miss you will drill right through to outside or miss the area other way and not be into sill area. I did not drill I used a ball cutter on a Dremel tool and carefully worked my way through it. Pay attention to depths.
Wiring is a bit tricky to fish through. I opted to make a slightly larger hole in line with bottom of sill where wires protrude to make fishing it through easier. Fish tape is too big, I ended up using a coat hanger thick wire and silicone lube on wire to get it through. The sealant between panels you go through is very grabby, lube needed to fish it through.
Wiring is straightforward. I will not use scotch wire taps, easier to cut wires leading to courtesy light and solder and shrink tube them. Once all wired I opted to wrap wires with OEM style fabric tape. If you take your time and are patient it will come out great.
I did have another issue. The passenger side has a slight darkened area and seemed dimmer that Drivers side to me. It is like brushing on an LCD screen how it temporarily leaves a brief shadowed area, but does not go away. I tried explaining to them, but that was quite futile.. horrible experience that was. I laterally gave up, just insanely bad experience. I think they are a little brighter now anyway. The problem is once you clean area use adhesive promoter and stick that 3M tape down.. there is little chance up getting them off without damaging them. I also was not going to swap them out and have to hand fit another one. The quality is decent and I think they look great, once you get them in.. They do catch more Dirt and dust since they have a recessed area, depends on how much that matters to you. I knew going in there may be issues, just pointing out my experiences to give people a clear picture of what install may involve. Any questions don't hesitate to drop me a PM.
