Default Well it Looks Like I Landed a Lemon! I was afraid of this..

This is what I have been dealing with the past week. Just before the car hit 500 miles all hell broke loose. Dealer is stumped and has GM engineering working on the case it’s a transmission fault code but GM is having them order a new ECM. After checking the Forums including F/B there are plenty tales of woe on this issue one guy had it set a code with only 7 miles on the clock. It appears to be mostly April 2024 builds. I’m not very happy and now convinced I should have never bought this car.

You've owned how many Stingrays up to this point, and have been active on the forums. You know there's continued transmission issues. I do feel bad for you, but at this point I think potential buyers should more expect something to go wrong than for it to be trouble free. Hope it's a quick & easy fix.

All the worst by the 5th model year all this crap should be fixed already. Five Stingrays and NEVER an issue like this ever. Here is just a few April builds I have found all with the same issue. I’m sorry this kind of crap just shouldn’t be so common right out of the box at this price point or any price point for that matter. I have my 30 day lemon law meter activated.

This is not inspiring confidence for my April built Z06 I'm picking up in two days at the museum for a 400 mile trip home.

So maybe it's just me, but I am not seeing a code in your post.

Thanks,
Robert

Yep! at 296 miles, I had the P0700 code TCM but it went away a day later. I'm still going to have it checked out.

This should be a sticky thread for tracking purposes, particularly if emerging as a systemic production issue.

I feel that impacts me less and less these days. I definitely was concerned and even impacted by some QAQC/infant mortality issues; but the longer I have the car (~2000 miles) right now, I worry less and less.

It’s total ish for all of the new car drivers that have to deal with this. No excuse no mitigation statements. I’d hope the OP gets out of this car and into something that makes them happy.

They're making almost 1,000 Z06s a month, if they were all turds there would be a stop sale on them. That said, I'd be lying if I said I'm not a bit nervous about picking mine up and being 400 miles from home.

I wonder if it can be at least temporarily cleared by disconnecting the battery.

When were these built, beginning of April, end of April?

My car was finalized through QA on April 18 and I’m at 491 miles with no issues so far. The transmission shifts as smooth as butter.

This.

Let's not forget how many C8s are on the road now. Even at 99% success rate that's what? 1500 bad transmissions?

If we took a poll here even. With the amplified attention of those with issues it would be a minute percentage of owners (and make the poll public to help eliminate the
Trolls).

OP. None of that helps you but remember, worst case it gm will make you whole and you can move on if you wish. I for one will not disparage this car because its by far the most incredible machine i have ever owned. Amazing.

Hopefully it's rectified or you get another problem free one.

GM will not "make you whole" on their own. That is a fact. I'm glad that you got one of the good ones, but many of us got the lemons and have had to deal with GM to try and make it right. They will not without legal intervention. It has nothing to do with "disparaging" the car. That is an ignorant viewpoint. I love the platform when it actually performs as designed, but many more of us than you realize have had to deal with the repercussions of GM's shoddy business practices. As much as I love the platform, in theory, I will be moving on from the Corvette once the buyback is completed. It p*sses me off because this was my dream car, but all of that is irrelevant when the car is this unreliable.
