Default P2138

Hi there,
I have a 2010 GS 6A. About 3 months ago I installed a "Pedal Commander". I loved it. Woke the throttle up and I only went to City level 1. I did try out all of them, except the "Econ" mode. Last week I kept getting "reduced power" and "traction control" lights. P2138 showed up. I reset and erased the code but it was persistent. Today I removed the pedal commander and the car drove fine, no codes. So I checked with my scanner/reader and the code was still there. It showed the code had been set 4 times. My understanding is if it will not erase it is a permanent condition. I don't understand why I cannot delete the code unless the pedal sensor itself has gone bad. Could the pedal commander have fried the throttle sensor? Will the codes disappear after a few cycles. Has any else had this issue and found the fix?
Thanks!

Hey Mike, did you get a response or find a solution for this? I’m experiencing the same thing (although I have a C7) Thanks! Ron

Hi there,
Yes I did find a solution. First remove the Pedal Commander. Reinstall original plug at the pedal. The code will not completely go away until you have started and stopped the engine a certain number of times. (I think the cycle is 5 start/stops). Once the code is gone, reinstall the pedal commander. From that point going forward, only adjust the Pedal Commander while the car is in accessory mode without the engine running. I talked to the CEO of Pedal Commander and he advised me that the reason the codes were thrown was because I was changing the settings while the engine was running, which he claims confuses the computer. So I only change the settings in accessory mode. He also said, if for some reason that did not fix the problem, he had a download that can be sent to my phone and I could download the contents directly to the pedal commander via the wifi connection. I never got that far as my problem went away since I only changed the settings with the engine off in accessory mode. Hope this helps! Good luck!
