2013 Grand Sport To The Track
I'm a beginner at doing track days and took my 2013 once to Lime Rock here in CT and did fine with an instructor
in the passenger seat about 4 months ago. I'm thinking about upgrading the factory brake pads and was wondering
what would be a good pad for both street and occasional track use - suggestions?
A friend suggests EBC as a good brand and I was thinking of the Blue or Yellow Stuff but would one of those not be a
good choice? Alternatives?

Okay so the CarboTech 1521 is street only and they don't have a dual purpose pad.
Here's a review of the Blue Stuff:
10:30 in another person with a heavier car, probably with poor brakes lost the pedal in the pits,
but it came back. Hmmm, I'm thinking that a GS has much better brakes.
I'm running on street tires and don't plan to get racing tires.

I don't have an exact answer to your question as I use mine more for track than casual driving. As a fast intermediate driver, I run Carbotech XP 10's up front & XP 8's in the rear. Great stopping power and don't wear down fast. If you get to the point of wanting track pads for track and regular pads for normal driving, try this Carbotech combination. I leave them on for the little normal driving I do and they do squeal around town. Hopefully someone will recommend a good dual purpose pad for you.

I only did one heavy braking from 120 MPH at the track day and the brakes smelled after that but are still working fine.
I bought the car with 16K miles and I believe that it has the original pads, did the Grand Sport come with semi-metallic pads?
I have a another track day coming up, they will get inspected for thickness, I assume that they'll be okay for one more day
or no?

Hi all,
Planning to try and get in 2-4 track days this summer. They require annual brake fluid changes and I was
wondering if there is a suggested brand and type for the Vette? I can easily look up racing fluid but I want
a brand and type that is known to work well in the C6.
Got invited to a track day at a much larger track in NJ but was worried about the brakes for that, so will be
looking more seriously into pads if I try to do that this Summer.

For your 1st trackday event, you shoulda been in the 1:10 to 1:18 per lap pace. Unless you've done HPDE's before, then 1:00 to 1:05 per lap.
Within 3-4 trackdays, you should be knocking on 1:00 per lap.
You've already got good torque for the uphill, now for brakes into Big. Bend. You'll need strong brakes for BB.

Fresh DOT4 is all you need really. You can get super awesome stuff and spend big money, you can buy basic DOT4, while they all have different specs the reality is you're probably not getting the brakes hot enough to need it as a novice. Pratone dot4 max is a decent value, as is Valvoline synthetic dot4, or supetech dot4. Lots and lots and.lpts.ofmoptions here.
There are no good dual.pirppae pads. The OEM ferodo 2500s are ok. But either way you're getting a dusty pad with a decent bit of noise. Or you get a more pleasant street pad that doesn't last on track use. My current go to for hpde pads are Powerstop track day pads. Not sure if they make them for the C6 wide body brakes.
