I am building an LS3 utilizing a factory dry sump setup. I have a larger C7 oil tank, C6Z pump, front cover, pan and pickup. I also got a ARE #1007-1 pan for cheap, but then I got some feedback that they are not that great. I dont have the budget for a full blown dry sump, just looking for some improvements on the factory setup. I like the idea of the built in crank scrapper, now that IR doesnt make on anymore, and the smaller sump to help suck oil from the pan. Has anyone used one and it led to low pressure or engine damage? Anyone have success stories?
Depending on the track, I'd either do a lagit dry sump or run street tires w/1 qt over. Its the big sweepers while on slicks that can blow your engine. Trying to patch the factory setup and rolling the dice is a recipe for an expensive track day.
I already have a 3qt accumulator. I am replacing that setup with a factory dry sump, which is larger capacity and more effective. Im just looking for specific experience with this pan vs a stock LS7 pan.
I have the whole ARE set up. I think the benefit vs a stock LS7 is you will have a better oil filtration system. I saw you are using C7 dry sump tank already. I thought about doing that also. How are you adapting to those lines?
FYI Katech has a bunch of ARE lines on sale/clearance at the moment.
