It pains me to write this because a few years ago, I would say, let the kid have the Z06 and get off his back. I'm an experienced driver and have driven many fast and capable cars. BMW's, Porsches, V10 R8's, GTR's, you name it. My Grand Sport, down 70 horse on the Z06, heavier, and less torque, can be a handful to drive as an inexperienced driver let alone a Z06. I know that you don't have the life experiences to understand this right now and one day you'll think back and it'll click but a Z06 is straight up DANGEROUS if you are not in tune with the car, have the muscle memory developed from thrashing slower cars past the limit and know how to catch a slide properly, have the experience to always be scanning road conditions and know to breathe off the pedal when it is slick or wet or there is grass clippings on the road. Until you have basic drivers instincts engrained in you, this car can get out of control quick. In the wet, it won't take much to make a HUGE, possibly life ending mistake. This is an old car, the electronic nannies aren't as good as modern cars and won't necessarily save you. Now that I got the PSA over with, I also believe in diving into the deep end to better yourself in just about everything. Meaning, if you buy this car, and are truly passionate about BECOMING A GOOD DRIVER, and are willing to put in the work to build skills carefully, you'll get better at driving just about anything. Except maybe lower powered stick shift cars that will take more finesse with the clutch but as far as driving dynamics, it will make you a better driver because you have to be to now die. The one thing that you absolutely should do right away is put good tires on the car. Aged out tires on a Z06 will kill you, simple as that. Rant over, good luck.
Just saw this too, can happen to anyone.
