When I performed the first O&F, upon removing filter
it looked a little “out of shape”?? As if it was somewhat
crushed??? Was it possibly over torqued at the assembly plant? PS I wish they used a simple spin on
filter😞

I don't recall mine being deformed, but it was definitely way over torqued along with the drain plug. I used a torque wrench on both when I replaced them.
No way over torquing the cap will crush that filter. Regardless of how much torque is put on the cap, the cap will bottom out on the housings mating surface. Not saying the cap wasnt over torqued, it may have, but that wont cause the filter to crush. Here is a picture of my filter that I recently changed. I know the cap was torqued when this filter went in because I did it myself. Doesnt look too much different than yours.
My wife could care less what I buy when it comes to cars and toys but she draws the line at bringing the parts into her kitchen….she would club me on the head if I brought a dirty oil filter into her kitchen You are a brave man...

This is the engine oil filter and the cap takes a 32MM socket, so it could have been way over-torqued, but as mentioned above, the cover would bottom against the case.. It looks to me more like the filter was not centered on the locating ends of the filter and that may have distorted the filter.
I don't know how the factory torque was on my C8Z engine oil steel drain plug, but when I did the oil change after the local Chevy dealer did it, it took over 50 #-ft of torque to get it off. Spec is 14-18#-ft. that can be done with a 1/4" torque wrench. I let the dealer know I was displeased. There is no oil pan on the LT6. The bottom half of the block has a threaded insert that the steel drain plug threads into. I am not sure how that thread insert is retained in the block, but it looks like the engine engineers made provisions for that insert to be replaced if the drain bolt stripped it rather than have someone use an easy-out and then helicoil to keep small metal particles out of this engine with it's very tight clearances.

Damn!!! I was thinking about the DCT filter . Thanks for correcting me.

ha ha, my wife bitched too,I even cleaned the oil filter canister in he sink! And,” back in the day”, I put my
motorcycle engine case halves, cylinder, and head into the dishwasher 😱 can’t be to clean now🤪

Would it be OK to have wheels in the kitchen? Have to ceramic coat them somewhere.
