To wheel space or not to wheel space.. that is the question!
Hi all!
2023 Stingray htc 3lt z51. I saw Vettes with wheel spacers from I think "professional' wheel spacers. I do like the wider stance. Does it or can it create any driveability problems or scrapping etc? Anyone have before and/or after pics? Thought it gives a bigger wider stance... YOur thoughts greatly appreciated.
Wheel spacers always add a certain amount of possible issues.
You need to keep a constant watch for cracking and loosening.
Only use spacers made with high quality billet 6061 T6 aluminum.
Now, I am not saying not to do it, I have wheel spacers on my car, needed to adapt C6 rear wheels to my C5.
Do it, but be super cautious with them.
Been running them on my c8 without any issues for over 30,000 miles. Had then on c6 z06 for 80,000 miles without issues. Ran road courses with them too, no issues. Tire offset chosen by gm is probably related to not throwing road debris on the side of the car.
TY, your car looks awesome.. I probably will do the wheel spacers... I have them on my BMW 650I and my SL550... no issues and much better look and I believe handling as well.
I have ALT Forged wheels, really like them. Offset 18mm. I can see the front tires are rubbing on the plastic splash guard at the back of the front fenderwell.
Not a big deal but it is the result of offset wheels.
It may be just me, but I would never put spacers on a car. My rational is that the engineers know the best place for the center of the tire for best wear/handling and parts longevity. making them wider may be putting extra strain on the hubs/bearings that would not make itself evident for thousands of miles, but it's likely happening. I plan to keep my car(s) so anything that could put extra strain on them is just not done.
