I'm assuming one doesn't have to remove the evaporater box (yikes!).

A factory AIM (Assembly Information Manual) shows all the attachment points. Most folks don't find the one or two hidden bolts or nuts at first. NWM gave you a good hint at one off them.

this guy on FB said:

"OK, I got the heater box out yesterday. What a struggle process if anybody’s interested remove water from radiator remove all heater hoses blow out the heater core remove all nuts from the engine side five in total remove glove box remove side panels from the council remove right hand, kick panel unhook all the cables and electrical from box. Remove radio remove air duct under the glove box. and off of the heater box 2 screws gently wiggle it loose tip the right side down and pull it out. It’s a tight fit. "

5 screws on the engine side? I only see four.

two screws? not sure what he's referring to.

also some mention you have to remove the blower motor.

true?

and this guy is talking about lower nuts accessed via below access panels? not in the AIM that I can see:

"problem is space to maneuver the big, long box, but also to remove the nut attached to the long stud coming through the firewall from the engine compartment (next to the wiper motor). I was able with great difficulty to remove the nut from the glovebox side, without removing the speaker, grill, a/c vents etc. I'm not sure whether the manual method or mine is easier or quicker. With the exception of one nut in the passenger right foot area, all the other retaining nuts are on the engine side of the firewall in front of the passenger's feet. MAJOR HINT: Take off the two "skid plates" underneath the frame on the passenger side. It allows easy access to all the lower nuts!"

I count at most 3, maybe four (two maybe on top, one side, one bottom) on the engine side , and 2 on the interior side (far right near vent, other aforementioned behind radio).

if you have all the nuts removed it could simply just be stuck to the firewall you going to need to gently rock it up and down to break it loose
