Default 1974 Blue Door Jamb VIN Data Decal

Hi,

I’m trying to get a VIN door jam decal reproduced for a 1974 Corvette. I believe the GVWR line listing the weight numbers changed depending on the vehicle options. The car has very limited options and was not even delivered with a radio from the factory.

Engine - L48
Transmission - Turbo 400

Only Options:

Air Conditioning
Power Steering
Power Brakes

Is there anyway to calculate what GM would have used with only those three options and an L48 and Automatic Transmission for the weight numbers on this line?

1974 specs

Partway down you’ll see the curb weights and additions for specific options.

Thank you so much for your help. It’s exactly the information I was looking for and was easy to add up for my car. For a 1974 Corvette, would the month be written 3/74 or 03/74 or 3-74 or 03-74?

Thanks for your help with this.

Does anyone know if the build date had a 0 in front of 3 for March in 1974? I’ve seen some typed out as 3/74, others 03/74, as well as 3-74, and 03-74. I can’t tell if some are just reproductions and done wrong, or if they used different variations based on months or years of production. Does anyone have an original on their car or a picture of an original from 1974 to see how it was done then?

Hello LS7V,
Forum Member Tooch1 is quite familiar with 73-74 cars.
You might want to contact him regarding your questions about the Blue Certification Decal.
Regards.....

...pic of the actual door sticker off of my '74 Corvette coupe, L-48, automatic, power steering, power brakes but NO A/C. Built 9/73, #01950 out of 37,502 Corvettes built in 1974.

Paul

thanks for posting the pictures. I’m curious to know what options your car has. I can’t help but notice if you take the weight of the vehicle and add the options listed in that Corvette specifications booklet on the GM Heritage website, it doesn’t come close to the weights of any of the decals from L-48 optioned cars. They’re all a few hundred pounds off. This is the same case if you went with the weights on a 1973 Corvette. I wonder what else GM was adding to the weight. Either way, I’m going to do like most people and add the weight up from that book and use that for my decal.

Thanks again,
Ray
