Default Half Shaft U-Joints & Lower Shock Mount Questions

I am restoring my drivetrain and rear suspension. I've shipped my differential and trailing arms to Bair's and am waiting for their return.

I started installing these GMB U-Joints (Japanese) from Rock Auto. I have some questions based on the photos below.

1. Do the retaining clips look adequately seated in both photos below?

2. I seated the U-Joints by tapping them in with a hammer followed by pressing them in with a ball joint / u-joint press like
this one this one
. I only installed one on each half shaft and will install the others when I get the trailing arms and differential back from Bair's. The two joints that I have installed are a little bit stiff. I assume they are stiff because I did not perfectly align them when pressing them in. Is this going to cause vibration or other problems? If so, how do I fix them before installing?

3. How does the lower shock mount look in the photos below? Can I reuse it after running the threads through a die or do I need to buy another for $50 plus freight? The other one mushroomed when I was beating it out of the trailing arm after alternately heating it and soaking it in PB Blaster.

Thanks as always.

The clips are not in. I'm in the process of doing the same thing. I watched a bunch of you tube videos and found there are lots of reasons the clips don't seat properly. I found they have different thicknesses of clips, clip slots need to be cleaned well, tapping on certain areas around the yoke seats the caps when not in straight and loosens them up, sometimes. If a pin comes loose during installation, it will cause it to be tight, and it can ruin the u joint. You have to make sure there is no burrs before installed the new caps.... Take some time and watch many different videos and weed out the dummies. I found some really good information regarding good practices and not so good practices. Its easy to do it right with a little bit of good information.

The shock mounts are shot, get a new set from Bairs. The knurls are flat and they're pitted. The u-joint clips don't appear to be seated and they will pop out if not correctly seated and staked.

@GTR1999 and @LT-1 1970 thanks for the good advice. I will order new shock mounts and take another run at searing these clips.

the joints are not so tight that I needle bearing is out of place and crushed. But I will remove one and look for that and look for scars in the bearing seat to see if I made a major mistake.
