Default 1967 corvette brake rod adjustment

Hi everyone,

I've searched on the forum, but haven't found an answer to my problem...

On my 1967 small-block Corvette, I rebuilt the braking system this winter.

I found 4 original calipers and a DC Code master cylinder at Lonestar Caliper.

The brake booster is an original #5867, rebuilt by PBBE.

Could you explain the procedure for adjusting the brake booster rod length ?

On the C2, I believe the adjustment is made at the brake pedal...but I can't seem to shorten it.
Thanks
Yann

If you haven’t changed the length of the booster pushrod and the MC piston has the same depth.
All you need to adjust is brake pedal rod length into the clevis. See photo below.
There’s a locknut behind the clevis, you loosen that and rotate the rod to the desired length.
I usually leave a little pedal free play, around 1/2 inch at pedal itself.

anyChevy's post provides the adjustment at the brake pedal and as he stated, you must leave some free play in the rod to prevent the rod from actuating the power booster.
In addition, the rod on the booster which activates the master cylinder must be adjusted per the Chevrolet Chassis Overhaul Manual (Section 5-31) to assume the booster does not compress the piston in the master cylinder prior to stroking the brake pedal. This must be checked prior to mounting the master cylinder.

There is a special and specific low cost tool to make this adjustment between booster and MC. I will post a pic in a few minutes. Sold by CSSB.

This is the one I have and use. https://www.cssbinc.com/1968-76corve...tmenttool.aspx

Here is a similar one on Amazon.
