Default Jacking a Corvette

I would like to do maintenance on my 70 LT-1 whether its oil, transmission service, etc. I use ramps for my other vehicles, i had the Corvette on ramp and nothing rubbed then attempted a second time but it felt like it shifted on me. I will not be using the ramps anymore. How do you guys get under your cars? I have tripod jacks and have used those on other vehicles. I just can't decide what way i want to go. I want it high enough to work but not too high for lack of room in garage and expense.

Started out with 2 floor jacks and 4 jack stands.

Then Race Ramps 2 piece wheel cribs. Some people make their own from 2 x 4's.

Now, Quick Jack.

I use Quick Jacks or my 4 post lift, which has two hydraulic slide jacks on it.

What do you mean "then attempted a second time but it felt like it shifted on me." I built ramps, drive up on them, they get the car high enough to change the oil without any issues. If I need to have the entire car up, the front is on the ramps and I jack up the back and put ramps under the tires. Solid, does not move.

Another vote for a QuickJack!

I really do not have much ceiling height in the garage, so it is perfect and, perfectly stable and safe.

quickjack is the way to go, but for an alternative, a good floor jack and 4 high quality jack stands is more economical.

Sounds gross

I’ve heard of people putting grip tape on the bottom of them to prevent them from moving.

Buy a GM service manual. It will tell you how to jack up the car. It's not that hard

+1 for the quick jacks. I was scared to try to lift my convertible due to body flex. The quick jacks work great and pick it up evenly. Plenty of room underneath.

I think i can figure out how to jack a car. I jack these for a living. I was asking what methods corvette owners use to get their cars off the ground.

Michael
My c5 air dam hits the ramps and they can slide forward. Screw the front end of your ramps into a 4 by four piece of plywood. The weight of the car will hold the ramps firmly!!

A buddy flies those planes to Africa every other week!

That C17 photo reminds me of an old saying about the C5...

If you see 6 C5s on the ramp and 4 of them are up on jacks, what does that tell you???

They must have run out of jacks!!
