Bought my car preowned with 1000 miles on it. It has the Z07 package and the dealer decided to change out the C2R tires and instead of putting pilot sport 4S on it opted to put pilot sport all seasons.
I’m wondering if it’s worth buying some 4S tires and selling these while they have almost no wear on them or if I should just run them to the ground and replace them when the time comes.
does anyone have any experience using both and can comment on whether it’s worth changing them out in terms of straight line traction or overall street driving? I won’t be driving the car in any type of inclement weather.
Honestly, I doubt most people on here would ever notice the difference. Capabilities of each tire are far beyond what most experience on the street. Straight up drag race the sport 4s will hook up slightly better than the A/S. Not sure you have any colder weather by you but that is the main area that you'd easily notice a difference in. Below 40 degrees or so the A/S will shine as the 4S struggles mightily and you'll start to notice that as the temps drop below 50 and it gets worse the colder it gets. A/S will also give you slightly better ride quality which may or may not be that important to you along with a high probability of lasting a good 30% longer than the 4S. But if your main goal is highest performance, the 4S is the one between the two.

I have both on two sets of wheels and go back & forth between them. I use the PS4S for track use, autox, and local summer street driving. My AS 4+ are for the rest of the year and road trips (including aggressive back road driving, like going to Tail of the Dragon this week). Even for twisty back/mountain roads, the all seasons are great. You honestly shouldn’t ever be push in the car hard enough on a public road that you’d need the extra 10% that the PS4S gives. If you are going to track the car, the PS4S would be the right choice for a street/track tire.
I too have two sets of wheels with PS4S and PSAS. I use the PS4S from May through October and the AS for the colder temps. When the tires get up to temp there is a slight difference with the PS4S having a little better grip.
Your car was made to wear Cup2R’s or PS4S’s for a reason. Just watch the YouTube video below. It all depends on your Z06 version, like mine, yours is a Z07.
Yep, below is what GM posted for the E-Ray that comes standard with AS and I ordered for the ZER Performance Option for $500 that is only PS Summer tires, same that come with the standard Z06. Note GM data shows it provides 10% higher lateral "g". No need for All Season in NE SC where I live.
Also I have a ~30 mile trip to town, all back roads, many with farm fields both sides. Have several turns, where there are no homes, no people, often no other cars. I have fun making a high speed turn where SAFE. Have 65 years driving without an accident with another car. If you pick the right spot no risk other than the car sliding off the road. Below is one of my favorites, where I achieved1.3 peak lateral "g" for fun with my 2020 C8 Z51, MRC with summer tires. Do that same turn every trip home from town. Achieve about the same BUT can also apply more power quicker after the Apex as torque vectoring applies more power to the outside front wheel (less to the inside front wheel.) Pulls it around!
For street use you will never notice a difference. if you do you're pushing the car way harder than anyone ever should on the street, period. Where there's a substantial difference is how many rocks you will NOT sling with the all seasons. I bought a set of Satin spider wheels to replace my gloss black set, and that guy had brand new all seasons on them. I love them compared to the 4s that i had on before.
I disagree with everyone who says you won’t notice a difference. I definitely do with my AS4’s and I don’t push the car that hard. I posted another thread about it.
Heat capacity is one huge factor. If you’re in a warm climate, AS tires will fall off very quickly once you start pushing. AS vs PS4s vs Vitour P1 difference is huge. Each is at least 10% better than the one before.

I’ll be sticking with the PS4’s in the future.
Although my days of racing are long over I still have fun making high "g" turns WHERE SAFE! That is why I posted the Pic repeated below. Depends where you live and/or drive. In my case the ~30 mile trip to town is made on all rural two lane roads. many with farm fields both side, no homes, people and often no other cars. I have not had an accident with another car in 67 years driving. Attribute that to knowing where all cars are around me, maintaining my driving skills and LUCK! GM data (Pic in Post #8 above) with the E-Ray, exact same suspension All-Season versus PS4s is 1.0 max lateral "g" for All Season and with the ZER Option which is only PS4 Summer Tires, the same tires as on the Z06, 1.1 max lateral "g." Was happy to have PS4 and MRC when I hit 1.3 "g" peak lateral "g" with my 2020 C6 Z51. Trackers where the tires get hotter can achieve higher!
In NE SC I don't need all seasons and will order the ZER Option for my planned 2027 GSX! Those Canyon Carving would benefit as well!

One last comment from me. I just finished several days running the Tail of the Dragon, Moonshiner 28, Cherohola Skyway and other mountain roads in the area, and the AS tires were all I could ask for. Even on some early morning runs by myself, pushing pretty hard (tire temp up to hot), I never noticed any lack of grip. And I had just done a track event on the PS4S 2 weekends ago, so the comparison was fresh in my mind. The one area I might notice a little less grip with the AS tires is hard launches (i.e. launch control starts), but I’ll give up a little there for year round performance.
