I just did some upgrades to my '69 over the winter and am wondering about the relative value of what's leftover. I know there's a For Sale section but I really am not sure about this stuff except that there are purists who may see this differently.
Specifically that means a pair of 186 heads - one has a helicoil but it must've been done by a machine shop as it gave me zero trouble over 9+ years. Assuming I read the dates right: Passenger side head 3927186 M121 December 12 1971
Driver side head 3927186 GM17 I 21 8 September 21 1968
I also have what must be the original Harrison radiator. This is an L46 that had AC and I believe it's also a big block rad. It's a bit scaly and definitely used but may be of some value to purist. No leaks and the car always ran cool.
My best guess is that somewhere in the early 70s somebody blew the original engine and trans, it has a CE block and a correct M20 just not the one Chevy originally put there. Fine by me.
Feel free to PM me if you like - or laugh at me, whichever comes first.
The "186" s are decent 2.02 heads, I'm sure you'd find someone who could use them. The mismatched dates don't help, but I think they can go for $500 each and up.
It's also possible that someone would want the radiator. I think the side tanks on the original copper radiators had "Harrison" stamped in one of the tanks and may have had a part number tag. The radiator can be recored, so someone might want it for the tanks.
No idea about the radiator but those heads are getting harder to sell. You can try to get $400 each as cores. Might have to wait a while. I have a matched set, all machining done and got no interest. Hope yours can find a new home.
I used to go to MoPar swap meets. At the end of the day, everything was gone and I had a pocketful of cash. I'm on the west coast and there doesn't seem to be an equivalent for this hobby out here. The east coast seems to be better at this from what I read. I have managed to sell a few parts that I thought I would own forever, but it is a chore to keep the 'ttt' going and shipping is a monstrous surcharge. Just lamenting, nothing to add. I too have those heads but did sell a radiator.

I ended up giving away stuff at a swap meet 2 years ago so I wouldnt have to drag it home....not too many people want to buy cast iron anything...it ways a ton and performs horribly even compared to some chinese aluminum garbage heads. Go on EBay and search for what you have, you can get an idea of what people are asking and go a bit lower since they are still listed, the prices are either too high or the shipping, as mentioned, is the deal breaker.
The best idea is the swap meet since there is no shipping, its a cash only transaction and they are right there, no scammers
I just noticed you're in Dutchess County. You might want to call Jim at Jim Glass Corvette in Kingston and/or Paul at The Corvette Shop in Montgomery about the heads. I don't know that either would have a need for the radiator, but one of them might have an interest in the heads. You could also talk to Richie at Dutchess Engines (part of Dyson Racing) in Poughkeepsie. I don't know that Ritchie would have a need for the heads, but he might know someone in the area who did.
