Z06 lost movement despite gear selection 🤦♂️
after some spirited driving Saturday evening, I went to leave a stoplight and the car just revved and didn’t go anywhere. I did not hear any loud noises or bangs, to indicate some catastrophic driveline failure. It’s an A8, and the only sound I could hear was somewhat of a “whirrr” type noise, when the car was trying to rpm up for movement.
I found that for 15 attempts or so (trying to get to a safe location for a flatbed truck), upon restart it would operate normally for about 10-15 seconds before losing movement again and just revving. It was engaged long enough that I was able to drive it up onto the tow truck before it started to roll backwards.
I have no codes or diagnostic issues. I am thinking maybe a pump/hydraulic issue inside the Trans and that as the pressure drop it disengages the clutches?
it’s a 2018 with roughly 35k miles. I did have the triple flush done when it was in 2 years (5k miles ago) for a new differential after a factory defect caused that to go out as well. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be happening? Thank you in advance
