Very nice pictures. Love the Blue C2 427 Convertible. Can't remember the last time I saw an AMC Hornet and in such great condition. The V8 Renegade with headers and side pipes must be a fun and probably sketchy Jeep to drive. I know, I've driven a couple of them in the '70's, one was a '76 Levis Edition. Both with V8's headers and side pipes.
That model is considered a 1963 1/2. I believe it runs a 390 "High performance 4 barrel" V8. I assume air conditioning in a convertible makes it fairly rare...
In 2006, I was at a Car show in North Arlington, NJ with my Uncle and my oldest son who was only 17 at the time and we came across his '63 406 Galaxie. Long story short, this person was the second owner and bought it only a few days after my uncle sold it back to the dealer he bought it from, Fette Ford in Clifton, NJ, just before leaving for Vietnam.
My uncle ended up giving him all of the original paperwork from 1963 when he bought the 406 new. Turned out that the second owner moved to Cape Coral FL with the car right after buying it until moving back to North NJ area in 2005. He still owns the car to this day but recently listed it for sale. Unfortunately, the original 406 is gone and has had 4 engine changes, currently at only 27k original miles. Raced as a 427 in NHRS Super Stock. I'm still in contact with the current owner, John....same name as my uncle.
I just contacted John and he told me that he passed the car along to his nephew a couple month ago who located and recently replaced the 427 with a correct 406/405.
