When I bought my ‘75 it had this air filter on it. I assume that there’s a paper filter that I put into there but I’ve never seen one like it. If anyone knows who makes this or where to buy it let me know. It’s on a holly carb if that helps at all.
That's a Edelbrock Pro-Flo air cleaner. It uses a molded foam filter. Personally I don't like that air cleaner because they don't filter that well. I would replace it with something like this: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-239433#overview
It's what I'm using.
That air cleaner is much less likely to catch on fire if there was a backfire through the carb.
In addition to that there’s a few other things in the engine bay that might be less than optimal.
A rubber pressurized fuel line can be a fire hazard, especially coming up around the exhaust. The factory came with a metal line, and for good reason.
Is there a PCV valve in the valve cover? If not that line going directly to the intake manifold is a huge vacuum leak, and will take on loads of oil.
Maybe it’s just an extra long spark plug wire that goes all the way around underneath, but this is for cylinder #4. It’s going to the drivers side of the engine, which is all odd numbers. I would make sure it’s going to the correct cylinder.

thank you so much for that info, there is no pvc valve and the wire does go to the drivers side. I will fix that stuff.
It uses foam which will ignite if you ever have a backfire through the carburetor.
Buy a drop base air cleaner using a 14x3 filter.
Used that style air cleaner in my younger years on a car and I did have a back fire and it went up faster than you think. Lucky it didn't catch anything else on fire.
