Oops, sorry about that... current system is all stock.
I know nothing about car audio. I don't think I have ever changed any car I have ever had from it's stock system.
Are all the Tweeters created equal? or is University the best one?

I've gotten the best service from the University one, but they have 2 other locations in the Charlotte area that have car audio installation bays. One is on Independence & the other is on South Boulevard.
I use to compete in IASCA events in the 501-1000 watt class. 14 speakers in a Z24 and NONE of them were visible. I had all my work done in WV by a friend that happened to be a Rockford Fosgate factory installer.
I would check out Audiomasters in Pineville. It's in the small plaza down from Arnold Palmer Cadillac. They turn out really trick stuff that may not break the bank like other chains.
Figure out what you want first: simple upgrade, in your face, pavement pounder or stealth and go from there.
For a good 6-8 speaker system, ample power to push them without distortion, wires/connectors, and a hight volt output head unit, you can expect around 9-10k with a trick install.

I'm familiar with their work. They can do a good install! My primary competitor had his work done there...and he WAS STRONG! I've also seen some "less than quality" work from there too.

That sounds about right Jed.

Never saw your Toyota Jim. The SPL guys I saw were INSANE. 18 pro-tec 15s with 2-3 hifonics collasus amps. And of coarse you had the guys running the US amps rated at 50 watts with enough juice and ohm load, but would make 1000--the red one that was as big as the car!
I was the good ole precision power, quart, JL man. That was befroe JL even made amps
The STARTING SPL at the IASCA key events seemed to be 155. In those days 160-165 was major. Pick up a mag these days and it's nothing.
In Novice/Sportsman class...(where the amps ain't bridged to ½-¼ ohm)..158.7 was the highest documented SPL i ever saw in over 50 soundoffs! Ya'll musta had some big boys or weak meters playin up there!
'Course...guess a LOT of gains could'a been made in the last (*gulp*) 10 years in ALL components...huh?
