I received a ticket for my CORVETTE letters on my windshield. These are a factory item on the '98 Pace Car and would reduce the value of the car if they had to be removed. These are individual letters and not a tinted strip with the letters. Anyone know if these are illegal by code or if there is a loophole for factory installed items?
I see that nothing has changed since I was a young (make that very young) sailor at Dam Neck 40 years ago. Cars/owners are not supposed to have personalities. We were all harassed regularly esp for non-std exhaust.
What does the ticket say specifically in regard to the code broken?
I would contact these guys directly and explain this is a factory item!
Offering any documentataion to prove it as well will be a good thing!

5. Any distortion or obstruction that interferes with a driver's vision; any alteration that has been made to a vehicle that obstructs the driver's clear view through the windshield.
A factory installed item is NOT an alteration. The RPO code for this package should include an items listing that includes this decal.
11. Sunshading material attached to the windshield extends more than three inches downward from the top of the windshield, unless authorized by a medical waiver certificate.
This is a simple check. I don't believe those decals exceed this requirement.
The section violated is 462-1052. It covers a broad area of tinting and windshield additions. There is no tinting involved. The windshield itself is tinted at the top. I agree with alteration theory, that it was factory installed and no was alteration done.
I contacted the State Police and they quoted the section and suggested getting a lawyer.
