What's this Waterside thing?
Do y'all want the long or the short answer? There is a lot of RATPACK history here, but I will try to keep it short
Back years ago, we used to run around the local roads in the warmer weather and visit a different Hooters every month in the cooler weather. We had about covered all the Hooters and for March of 2001, we decided to go to the Hooters at Waterside. Rick Williams arranged with them to get access to the small parking area alongside Hooters and we had 20 cars show up
We decided to do it again in March 2002 and had 50 cars, in March 2003 we had a lot more cars and in March 2004 we had over 100!
By then we had exceeded the available parking area and this year, March 2005, we went to the city and after much red tape, got official permission to park all around Waterside. In 2005 we adopted the Relay for life and our Cruise In V raised $2,000 for that great cause
We had 120 cars. This year we will limit it to 150 cars in order to get everyone in and parked within city guidelines.
There should be lots of pics of all 5 Waterside Cruise ins in the events gallery.
We will have advance registrations, etc starting sometime in December. I am sure lots of folks can tell you stories and point you toward pics of this great event.
Waterside is the premier location to party and have alittle car show

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

We have begun the process of getting City approval. Once again, Rick Williams has voluntered to be a very big help with the planning and hopefully Gary will come through with the great tropies again.
We will be partnering with Relay for Life for the second year and Hooters for the fifth year. Keep the last Saturday in March open.
As with every year, we will be asking for volunteers to help with parking, etc on the day of the event.
This is a little early to start going into great detail, but keep an eye out
Jack

We have started the permit process with the City of Norfolk. last year this was a big hassle and Rick williams and I had to appear before committees and otherwise jump through hoops even though we had done the event for three previous years with no city involvement.
Waterside was a big help last year and will be this year. I think we made a very positive impression on the City and this year they seem to be more interested in having us than vs/versa
Once again, we will be partnering with Relay for Life, Waterside and Hooters. Once again I will be depending on Rick Williams for site coordination and Gary Ballard for trophies and graphics.
As always, we will need volunteers to assist with parking, etc
Registration will probably start in early January, I'll have more on that later
Really looking forward to this! From humble beginnings with 20 cars it has really grown, yet retained the flavor of the very first event
Thanks
Jack

Yes TonyLast Saturday in March, March 25
There's a new regime in charge in the city and I am having to deal with that, so look for formal sign up stuff in a week or so!
I am assured everything is OK
Jack

Can I be like you and sign up first?? I know it is a long haul but I've already made the plans to come back and try to straighten you out. Not sure if I have enough vacation left for that or not. Who knows the winter mods should be done by then!!!
Your help last year with a trophy sponsor really made a difference in the overall presentation...and the money for "Relay for Life"
I plan to get busy next week [Jan.9th 2006] with making contacts and whatever we can do on this side of the river..
Hope you can stay involved again this year...
Jack is the ultimate organizer so he will be busy with registrations and the legal stuff...and most of the hard work as usual...
send me an email if you can of your thoughts and ideas..
Stay safe
Rick

How can you see me in your rear view mirror when I am in front?? Remember the first trip with the new car in KY?? I think you needed the NAV system to catch up and find us.

Must have been a straight road Leo. Have you ever run with Jack in some lasting tight twisties? At a minimum he'll stay with you and most times will leave you in the dust if he is in the front.
Look forward to seeing you again at Waterside.

Lets sign em up!!
