Default My thanks to Jim and Linda

Alice and I had a great time, but I had to slip home before Brookside.
I had to work early Sunday. What all happened after Brookside? Did yall
go on to Big Meadows? My only comment was that those vert drivers were NUTS
to run with the tops down! I haven't got my pics from the cameras yet.

Hi all!
Just to let you know how crazy the weather can be here (local). As cold as it was Saturday, it's been 68 both today and yesterday! Just missed it by a couple of days........

Aw come on Jim! I have shaken your hand at least twice in the five or six years we have been runnuing around together!

Must admit though, that I have probably kissed Linda (on the cheek) more frequently than that!

We have shaken hands to good times

We have shaken hands during tough times

This weekend, it finally dawned on me. For the twenty plus or so of us that have been to all or nearly all the Skyline cruises, this event has become a Family affair!

We get together twice a year..we search out all our old friends and we bring each other up to date on what is happening in our lives!

We have had buying new cars, changing jobs, births, deaths, marriages and break ups!

And we make lots of new friends!

The Skyline is a family reunion for us!

I would hate to see it change!

More on that later and over e mail

Here's a hand shake for you and another kiss for Linda

We had a great time doing the cruise on Saturday. We met a lot of new people and some good friends. It was a great day.

Wow - What great organization - everything on cue. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our first cruise in the 06 Mont.Red Vert. I was too chicken to put the top down, but there were enough true vert diehards to hold up the honor. Looking forward to next year when it will definitely be warmer

Thanks Dave! Thanks for not suggesting that folks check their rings and their wallets after we shake hands!

Most everyone already knows not to park their C5 close to my car, or something they really didn't need may be....

This is what drives Linda and I to do this every year. Our lives are so busy but we always make the time to do these cruises and catch up with old friends. I don't think I could ever give up the fall cruise - at least not willingly! BTW, Linda informed me that we're doing the spring cruise again... I guess we'll see how things work out as I think it will be a joint effort between us and some local folks...

I got this e-mail yesterday:

Hello,

Thanks for making my trip to the mountains more memorable, I took some photos of your members, if you would like I would be happy to forward them on to you.

My husband owned a 1966 vette, and I just can't seem to get him to buy another one!

Cheers
We're famous! I asked her for the pictures and she sent me several from Stony Man. I'll try to get them posted ASAP.

BTW, she did a google search for "skyline drive+corvette club" and found us. Gotta love this internet thingy...

Maybe I should forward that note to the park service, eh?

This was our first Skyline and first real cruise since owning the "vette", but will not be our last. The wave is definitely alive, as well as Comradery amongst Vette owners and there desire to help a worthy cause . We talked with some real nice folks, and met 150+ folks we didn't get to talk to
... I know it was a lot of work for Jim, Linda and everyone else involved, but you all made it an awsome day... Kudo's to everyone, including the folks of Front Royal. People we talked to there were really excited about the cruise thru town... as was evident...
Any way we can help next year... we will.. need to keep this alive...
If not sooner... see you all in the "Spring" Hmmm... spring in the mountains... could see snow then too... oh well... get out the "woolies"....

Jim, thought I would pass this on as I really did not pay that much attention to it. At one of the overlooks, forget which one , the driver of a car from New York motioned for me to come over to the car. Walked over and he introduced his wife and himself and inquired as to the number of vettes they were seeing. He said they had already counted 100. I explained to him about the cruise, the money we raised for "Toys for Tots" ,etc. He said this was a great idea and he would take this back to N.Y. to the Buick Grand National club to which he was a member. Maybe a lot of "GOOD" will come from all the effort you and Linda have put into this cruise. This had not crossed my mine until I read your post on the e-mail you received. Be nice to have one from the Buick club.

A lot of people @ work were up there that weekend and saw all of us cruisin' 'round. They thought it was pretty .

Don't see why the NPS needs to be a butt-head about the fees.

Gettysburg (or wherever) here we come!
