Default Orlando Florida OSW

Anyone planning to go next week. I'm thinking wed 1/11 when it reopens for the 06 season. My only concern is track prep. Anyone? Sunday funday is off my list for good. 1 run in 3 hrs ain't worth it. They should pay me for the gas.

I wish all the Orlando folks would come out to Lakeland on Saturday, the 17th...free entry and $20 to race in the Corvette Challenge, all of which is paid back to the racers...

I ran at OSW for 3 years but just can't put up with that place anymore....damn shame since I'm only 35 minutes from there...

Do you need to preregister for the vette challange or just show up? What are the rules?

Just show up...gates open at 4 pm..practice runs from 5 - 6 pm and elims start just after 6 pm...all you need to run is a vette and a helmet...if you need to borrow a helmet, I have an extra...

The format is bracket racing so it doesn't matter how fast or slow your car is, everyone has a chance...kinda like handicaps in golf...

The normal $10 track entry fee is waived for vettes for this event...there is a $20 fee to race in the Corvette Challenge...if we get say, 20 vettes, the $400 pot will be paid out 50% to the winner. 25% to the runner up and 12.5% to the semi finalists...the more cars the bigger the payouts, obviously...oh yeah, there are "buy backs"...this means if you lose in the first round you can buy back in to the second round for $10...this money is added to the pot as well...

There are also trophies for first and second place as well...we will have a separate parking area set aside for all the vettes...right by the starting line and snack bar and on asphalt...if you have never bracket raced there will be lots of folks who will be glad to explain it...no big deal...

Basically it will be a bunch of vette folks hanging out, racing and having a lot of fun...hope you can make it...btw, they prep the track very well, the lighting is good, no potholes on the return road, the snack bar food is decent and reasonable, they have an air station and the track treats the racers with respect...

Sorry for being long winded but I am really looking forward to racing again without having to drive 3 hours each way to Bradenton...

I almost forgot...the track is about a 30 minute drive from Orlando...I-4 to Exit 38 (Route 33)...turn right on 33 and go 1/4 mile to the track...
