I usually take a trip around the "Loop" on Sunday mornings,,, O.P. out 16 to Vilano Bch, up A1A to Jax Beach and home.... Beautiful Drive!!! Only regret that I can't cruise on the beach with the Z.....

Yeah, I take the "back way" down 16 up though GCS to my folks sometimes, fun backroads.
There is driving access on St. Augustine Beach! (limited to the north end). Sometimes we hit the first ramp, come back north a couple of miles and eat at the Beach Comber, great little "divey" type joint with seating outside (during the summer, we ONLY go where we can eat outside!).
We're on A1A just a couple of blocks from the ocean (and the intracoastal to the east), in the same area as Caps (another great place to eat).
