I'm finally ready to place an order for a 4-post lift, and I'll need to hire a flat bed tow truck to get it from a local freight terminal and drop it inside my garage. Any recommendations for a tow company you trust?
Thanks!
Mark
(p.s.: I'd post this on the NVCC forums, but my new membership application is still pending, so no posting ability there yet.)
do you own a SUV, Truck? Rent a trailer and do it yourself.
Thanks for the thought. I'd much prefer to do it myself, and have been exploring this option, too. I have an F-150 that's more than capable.
Two problems I haven't solved yet: Finding a trailer to rent that will accomodate a 15+ foot long package (the biggest U-haul open trailer is 12 ft). I also have no means to off-load the 2000lb package (or even the 400 lb runways as individual pieces by themselves) from the trailer once I get it to my driveway. I'm still looking for a trailer, though, and if I can find an engine hoist rental, that will take care of the latter issue.

It's going to be difficult for a tow company to unload the lift. I wouldn't be surprised if he backed into your driveway and tilted the bed and let it it slide off!
I've installed two lifts. A 4 post and a 2 post. My father and I picked up all the pieces of the four post. Yes the 400 pound runways. We took the parts off one at a time.
engine hoist can be bought at harbor freight, around $100.00...
there is a trailer rental place off of Ballsford road, near the 66/234 Walmart.
You don't need to be a member of NVCC to partake of the forum (it's a public forum). Simply go there to create a forum profile and post away.
I'm sure if you posted this question there you would get some good responses as well...
Thanks, Laurie -- I'll try again. The last couple visits have resulted in "you are not authorized" messages when accessing the forums. Probably an operator error problem at my end

Thanks *very* much for the trailer rental place info -- I'll check them out. Assuming they have what I need, I'll probably do it myself, as I've realized that I can likely do the lifting I need with the aid of an electric hoist I have in the rafters in my garage. And thanks for the HF engine hoist idea, but I have so little leftover storage room (even for a fold-up) that I just can't justify buying one, at least where I don't have any other expected use for it.

Hmmm...that's weird. We have had some site maintenance, maybe that caused the problem.
The only other thing I can think of is if you did the member login mistakenly instead of the forum login. I know that the forum is open to all and is a separate profile/login/password kind of deal and that the member login is members-only and has its own login/password thing.
That's the only thing I can come up with, I'm no techie Try again if you can...if you still have issues, I can talk to the webmaster...

Thanks again for the help -- I figured out this morning that it's my firm's firewall -- I can access the forums fine with the same laptop over my home wireless network. I'll be posting on NVCC in the morning

Gotta love firewalls! Glad it's only that and that you can access it from home.
