NOVA Tuner?
You shouldn't have to belong to a club to have fun with your Corvette buddies, Thats what I miss about the Vette clubs in Ga, they never excluded anyone, member or not
NCRS, CGCC, Peachstate, Lanier all those clubs really knew how to get along and have fun I am a proud member of both the NVCC and CorvetteForum.com. I have met wonderful people in both groups. Granted, CF stuff is more or less regional social events but as a club (NVCC) we do a lot of different types of events...we arrange dyno days and shop nights for our members, we subsidize some events for our members, we have sponsors who provide us with a lot of things, etc. We also are insured through the NCCC for many of our events that we hold; autoX, HPDEs, Concours, etc...
We do NOT exclude people from coming to any of our social events, joining up on our cruises, etc. In fact, most of our membership joined because of the events we hold and because they have enjoyed our company. But as far as some events where we subsidize some of the costs for our members, or receive a discount from a sponsor, or get a group club rate for a dyno, then yes, those things are (and should be) for dues paying members only.
This isn't the first time that people have pi$$ed on our club yet still attended our events. If you want to come to our members-only events, then become a member. It's really that simple.
Like Bluewasp said, the NVCC will open up unfilled slots to the public for the March Dyno Day.
PS- 69mako, didn't you win a plaque at our NVCC Concours? Another event open to all Corvette owners.

Owner name, address, phone #
Year/Model (C4/5/6 and Z06 - if applicable)
VIN Number
Trans: auto or six speed
Rear axle ratio (If you're not sure and its stock - write "STOCK")
Thanks, Mike
I had kinda checked into this. I know 2 guys at my local track who need tuned. Alvin expressed an intrest in traveling to do the tunes. When he did my dyno tune it was in PA.
Also, there is a shop here in manassas called excessive motorsports. He does group dyno pulls but they do mainly mustangs and lightnings as far as tuning goes. Very cool guy, he likes vettes but he is also a business man and it seems, at least around here, there are a lot more modified mustangs and lightnings then there are vettes.
I will send a pm to Alvin and maybe he can add to this post.
I have a suggestion which may sound hoakey but it worked for me. I have a shop vac with a detachable motor so it works as a blower as well. Anyways, I rigged up a way to attach it to the tail pipe and blew air up the exhaust. Using soap at each of the joints I found my leaks. You dont need a air tight fitting with the shop vac to do this. I used the floor attachment with a bungy cord and hooked it to the muffler tip. Sounds crazy but it works and you get to do it cold.
Ill give em a call .are you talking about the pcmforless website? If so whats wrong with it?

Sorry I ruffled your feathers. I never directed anything at you. I guess I’ll just have to get use to the pervasive “members only” attitude up here.
I’d love to join your NVC club, lots of nice people and it looks like a lot of fun; however trying to get up to Tyson’s Corner to attend my two mandatory meetings for membership is out of the question with the amount of rush hour traffic on Tuesday evenings.
Yes; I did take first place in my class at your NVCC Corvette show last year, thanks for remembering that. It was a great Sunday and yes all the hard work you did payed off and it showed.
Save the wave and see you at the next Corvette happening we both happen to be at, be it a NVCC event or a Corvette BBQ at my place.

And BTW, the membership requirement for the NVCC is ONE GBM and ONE other non-meeting event, in any order...it can be a cruise, parade, social event, autoX, HPDE, Concours/show, etc...once you receive the event form back after turning in your app, you have 4 MONTHS to attend those two events. We make it PAINFULLY easy for people to be in our club. If you had turned in an application last year, your Concours attendance would have counted.
I know clubs are not for everyone, but we have a LOT to offer. I also consider my club my family.
The same goes for some people I have met on here.

I'm not a member, and don't know if I ever will, but I think it's great that you folks do all that you can to help Vette owners enhance the experience.
You owe no one an explanation, and you certainly shouldn't need to defend the NVCC.
Mike

Alvin, Would you or your partner be willing to drive up to the DC metro area (fairfax, manassas)???
thanks
robert

I would be up for a Tuning Day, with either my '94 or '89 'vettes...although the '89 isn't moving these days, a new problem...damm parking break is stuck
I hope I can get it to disengage; spent a half hour today trying and no dice

My offer of keeping the car and sorting it out is still in effect - For a ltd. time only

. Brothers were allowed to participate in any event if their dues were paid and they attending the regular meetings. If they were outstanding they were considered in bad standing and not allowed on the property, parties, or other frat. sponsored events. That was hard at times. Telling your good friend of 4 years :sorry you arent welcome here you owe the house 35.00.....similar to the corvette club world...of course we would love ALLLLL the corvettes to come out, but what are the advantages of being IN the group then? It has to be exclusive to some extent. I think the group up here in NOVA is AMAZING and i look to become a member! If anything just to meet new people. AS far as a Dyno day is considered. I know Tony's Corvette shop is one of the priemer shops around .. and I know I talk alot of crap about his prices ....but seriously ...can SOMEONE explain to me how you get 700.00 to tune a car???????
I am in the others guys boat here... I have headers, cai, exhaust, and soon a cam and YES I am going to need a tune ...but DANG 700.00?
Do we have anyone else that is a LS2 Edit gooo ruuu?
I just didn’t realize you were so responsive to critiques of your club.
I owe you a beer next time we meet up, name your poison and I’ll try to have it “handy” with me the next time we meet up.
Now back to our regular show "You and your Corvette, in tune or not?"
Hosted by the SE section of the CF

No worries...just that this was the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak. I've held it in and not said anything for a while, but this sent me over the edge.
Back to the tuning discussion, please...
Tonys Corvette Shop
FCCT
thats the only two I know and I "heard" FCCT is using HP Tuner but, when I emailed them they said "oh with an ATI you dont need a tune unless you have some serious mods" So I replied, "headers, cam, and an intake" the reply I got:
"Those mods arent serious enough for a tune"
Hmm ... either they dont want to tune, cant tune, or well just dont know the LS2.

With even my ancient 94 LT1 engine adding headers, cam, and ported heads didn't take the car out of the range of the stock tune in the PCM. It's not too unbelievable that a competent tuner would say just what you got, that's not enough to require a tune. Many might be anxious to take your money though.
