Hey guys, I am moving to Savannah in February.
Just wondering if there is a particular area I should look for housing. What to expect, activities, etc... in the area.
Any corvette clubs in the area?

Activities would depend on what you do for fun. Not sure about any Vette clubs in the area, I think there may be one in Hilton Head Island, S.C. though, about a half hour away. Good luck.

Savannah, GA Corvette Clubs
There are two clubs in the area, one based in Savannah and the other in Hilton Head. The Savannah club is called Coastal Corvette Association and meets near the Sav Airport. The Hilton Head group meets on Hilton Head but both clubs have members from the area between the two cities. We do some joint activities and we also do things with the Charleston, SC club (about 100 miles away). There are a lot of car club activities in the area - most not Corvette exclusive - to go with the Corvette related things.
So it all depends on where you end up living. Welcome to the Coastal Empire of GA and the Low Country of South Carolina.

I Live about 3 1/2 hours from Savannah, my wife is from there and her twin sister lives in Pooler, Ga which is really part of Savannah. I'm going to try and get over to Savannah a few times this year to Autox my Z06. Maybe I'll see you there. If you need direction on housing areas let me know, I can findout more from my sister-in-law. Pooler seems to be a nice area and I believe Effingham County is really a good area that is growing.

How reasonable are the houses there? I am coming from an area where a 3/4 bed room house averages for about 500k (northern va).
Army 01 pay is ok, but not good enough to afford something like that

I asked my wife, she said Southbridge in Savannah has a golf course, she thinks houses start in the $250k-$300k range. There is Godley Station in Pooler, Ga (Chatham County) which is part of the metro area. Its a new subdivision in Pooler near a new Walmart, Home Depot and new places to eat. She thinks the houses are less than in Southbridge.

You will like Savannah. I did my residency training there and loved every minute of it. I lived on Wilmington Island in an apartment complex called the Hammocks. Nice but pricey. A few more luxury complexes have popped up in the years that I've been gone. I would recommend living on Wilmington Island or in that general direction.

Does anyone in the Savannah area know of any good body shops? Someone just backed an Expedition into my Vette and it needs a little work. Tie goes to Ford in this case, I guess.
