Can someone recomend a safe place for Me, my mother and of course my Vette.

One of my younger brothers is graduating from Army Basic that week.

Thanks

I work at Ft. Jackson, so I will be glad to help you out. There are a few places to avoid right out of the gates, but I guess it is all according to what you are looking for. Calm and quiet, or close to some nightlife.

I'm about to turn in, (long day) but I'll PM you my number in the morning and you can call me if you want.

Oh yeah, congrats to your brother!

What about inside the gates ?

I'm retired Army, but the MWR fed me bologna again...

They told me to call ten days out, just to tell me there was no rooms.

I'll keep my eyes and ears open for your PM.

Thanks

The only thing that I know of inside the gates is the guest lodge. I can assume with the amount of graduates that those rooms fill up fast. I'll do a little checking.

BTW, thanks for your service too!

PM on the way.

sounds like you have a good source for some recommendations - I'm also from Columbia but live on the opposite side of town (Irmo area) from where you'll be going. I know that there are several nice hotels on my side of town - near Columbiana Mall - that would be good choices but it will be a much longer drive for you.

I'd be happy to make some suggestions if you decide to stay that far away. Congrats and hope you enjoy your visit!

I work for the Richland County Sheriff's Dept and my patrol area is just outside Ft. Jackson. If you are going to stay off post let me know as I can tell you the places NOT to stay. I know the local hotels very well and know which ones are not the ones to stay at, if you know what I mean. I will be working that weekend, maybe I can meet up with you in the area.

Thanks to all, today I finally got a room on post like I wanted.

Now I just need the weather to work with me if not the Vette is staying home.

Light rain no problem, crazy rain is another story.

Thanks again
