Well, it's that time of year again down here in the south when the lovebugs are out in force. I've heard stories of people spraying PAM on the front of their car to keep the pesky things from sticking to the paint. Can these things damage clearcoat? Any thoughts from y'all who suffer from these things would be appreciated: cleaning tips, etc. Thank God they'll be gone for awhile once the cooler weather comes. I'm here in northern FL. Thanks all.
Theyre here in Orlando as well in full force for the past 2-3 days.I think its getting worse. PITA. Just wash as needed,, Daily. These suckers will gunk up your windshield in no time & I heard they are corrosive. Lots of wax on car will help.
I use Meguires NXT detail spray to remove them each time I drive my car. If you don't get them off within a few hours you will be kicking yourself. If left on overnight you will find a slight impression....forever!!
Thanks for the input from everybody. That old trick of spraying PAM on the front end...does it work, or just create a bigger mess? It was about 62 deg. here this AM. A few more cool nights should take care of these little monsters soon I hope. I guess having clearcoat is no protection either?
They are out here in full force also. I just wipe them off with a wet towel at the end of the day. You can use a wet dryer sheet and it will take them right off with no problems. If you leave them on to long. They will eat through the clear coat and pit the paint. Dont put PAM on your ride.

You will wish you hadn't after you spend an hour scrubing that sh*t, not to mention bugs, off the bumper. Someone gave me that great advise of spraying PAM on the front bumper to prevent bugs from sticking. Not so, it took me the good part of an hour scrubing the greasy stuff of my bumper and I didn't notice it helping with the bug situation. Just wash often and apply a good coat of wax, that's the only way I know.

Agree! I did the same thing, took forever to get it off my car. Picture wipping a baby's rear-end with wax paper its a mess.
if you have a good wax or polish base on the paint, try detail spray to clean them off........I use Zaino polish, and after a road trip I just apply the detail spray and wipe the bug remnants off
