Default Sarasota Lovebugs???

I am going to be heading down to Lido Key this weekend. I was planning to take the vette but I hate getting plastered by the lovebugs.

Anyone from that area know how bad they are there? They seem to have been bad in the Tampa area this past weekend.

I have the 3M but maybe I will just take my Jeep.

I've seen two (that's right, 2) love bugs in the last 3 days here.

I dunno where they're hiding (maybe Tampa?) but they ain't here!

If you leave early while it's a bit cooler you should be o.k
They have been worse in the northern counties but I think they have moved south...

I know they tend to show up around 11AM and are pretty much gone around 4PM.

I am heading down tonight and leaving late afternoon (around 4) on Sunday.

With my luck I will hit the two that are down there.

I haven't seen any in Pinelas County. There are bad in the Orlando area I understand.
I'm planning on going over to Ecklers and hopefully they will be gone.

I live in Sarasota and drove the interstate up to Tampa and back today(Fri.) and didn't have one love bug on windshield. Maybe they had the day off like I should have done. Drive the vette, calling for a dry weekend.

I think I would be worrying about the red tide. It has been bad the past few weeks.

Well, I made it with not one bug at all. I never even saw a lovebug.

We stay out on Lido Key each time we go. The red tide really smelled going over the bridge but it was not bad on Lido. The wind was blowing out which helped.

Saw a ton of Vettes out in St Armands Friday night, Saturday and today. I am happy the dry season is coming!

Default I hate love bugs

I moved to Orlando in June. I have had my share of encounters with love bugs.
--
This past weekend I drove from Orlando to Jacksonville and by the time I got home my MY vette looked like it had a black front nose.
--
Had to wash her with a bug mit.
--
However, the drive up and down all weekend with the top down and perfect weather was worth it.
--

Good luck!

I'm just south of Sarasota and didn't even know those damned bugs were back until I saw some windsields on cars/trucks coming south on the Interstate. I haven't seen one yet (crossed fingers)...

Another great idea from "Modern Man"....

Had to drive some stuff down from Boston to Bonita Beach.... the lovebug population on I-95 in SC blew the lovebug encounters in FL away. I had never seen so many.... swarm upon swarm for mile after mile. Had to stop several times to clean the window and headlights. Unbelieveable.... and it's funny because I barely see them here in Naples/Fort Myers but usually encounter them from the Venice area northward into Manatee county.
