What has happened to the Carolina Corvette Race Team? Was a member last year and have heard nothing from them this year, and their website is down. Has it been disbanded or what? I'd like to know what happened if someone could fill me in.
Hi Candy, CCRT is currently in hibernation. We needed a little more participation and help. NitroC5 is just too busy with his new family and business. We lost a few bucks, but figured it was worth a try. Live and learn. Are you guys going to give auto cross another try? I'd go with NCCC, especially this Memorial Weekend. Really Vette friendly.
PS. want to buy a t-shirt and a patch?

Reason: PS
I might be into buying some more t-shirts.........and we may just show up for some NCCC events this year. Bill hasn't yet autocrossed at an NCCC event and I want to show him how much fun he can have at a course that's made just for Corvettes and not biased against them.
The CAT Events over the Memorial Day Weekend will be setup for vettes, the CAT is all Corvettes owners and all racers, this will be the best autocross you will ever go to.

I totally agree. Hey Mike, are you going to have an event this Fourth of July?

Some of us are still around but are not on the forum much anymore. Partcipation fell of dramatically after the first race last year (we had 16 cars total) and many decided not to compeat in any races again.
I went to Florida in Feb for 7 months, but as I promissed I would come back for each race which I did...I compeated in every race except for the 24 hour race when my radiator was damaged and I could not compeat. Of the 8 races I took 6 first place and 2 second place in class (won SM2 Championship) and had a best finish of 8th overall of 189 cars...each race as I promissed I promoted the team with shirt, patches and car decals.
The last race of the Season for SCCA feilded only (5) CCRT cars. Justin, Donovan, Charles, Pat and myself. I personally had a great time regardless as Charles and Pat really pushed me to become a much better driver and I learned to really set my car up for the courses.
I wish I could have done more but I did not have time to compeat in the NCCC last year as well nor travel long distances. This year I will be at all the SCCA races (as they are much closer to my home) and try to hit atleast 2 NCCC races.
I got pretty bored with the SCCA buzzbomb racing and ran several NCCC races instead in SC NC GA Indiana and Michigan..I flew the CCRT colors at most of the events but most folks didn't know who we were...I think the website went away because Donovan and I were the only ones who went there for the last 6 months..

Yo Rick, How the hell are you? Did you ever get your Vette fixed? I still have a balance in our checking and a box of t-shirts and patches. The 24 hour race was my last SCCA race. SCCA put these 350Zs in my class which have more horsepower and much less weight making Corvettes in the class not very competitive.

Given the option I would much rather do NCCC...however I cannot get my car tires and gear...and take that much time from point to point without a trailor. I actually thought about buying one, however I have no place to store a trailer in my neighborhood so I'm pretty much dependent on local races for now

Rick, there are lots of NCCC races in Florida. Just watch www.ncccsouth.com, Manny maintains a posting of all NCCC events in the south
Mike
Haven't lived in Florida for months now, however I was there from Feb-Sep of 2006. If I can coordiate someone to take my tires then I plan on hitting a few NCCC races this year...definately prefer over SCCA...although I will say my driving skill has really improved substantially trying to get 800 hp to the ground....it can't help but make ya a better driver.
Prefer NCCC, but won't knock SCCA as I've met some good guys at the races and many who have been more than willing to help out when I had a broken radiator last year.

I agree...I have lots of friends with CCR and TRIAD..There are some good folks there and this yaer will be better there with Dave at the helm...I will still do their events when I can(Like this weekend at Knight's) But NCCC is better because you get more runs and do not have to do the course work..... I can usually haul tires to the NCCC events..Just have to get em to me..
It looks like most of the CCRT peeps signed up for Knights stadium AutoX. Registration seemed to have closed a day earlier, I thought you had until Friday night to register, this time it was Thurs. If I get there early on Sun is there a Late registration fee of $20 or does that apply to people arriving after 9AM?

I didn't mean to go off on the SCCA, they hava a lot of very good drivers, most of us learned to autocross running SCCA events.
NCCC offfers course designs that are more open and faster then SCCA.
I wish that I had known about this weekend earlier, I have commited to go to Greensboro on Sunday. Rick, if there are any events you need to haul gear to let me know in advance, I may be able to help.
