Well I'm back... And broke... You guys are gonna dis-own me...
I ended up buying the fastest car I've ever been at the controls of... Ever.... The 2001 Porsche 911TT that has all the mods won out. It's making 510 WHEEL HP at all four corners, 531#ft. torque, and has just been serviced and has new tires... It also has the GT3 RSR seats ($1800 each) in it. After driving this car, And even though the exhaust is WAY to loud, I shook my head and put a deposit down on it...
It got clear bra installed on Monday, and will have lojake installed on Friday. I purchased an extended 48 month 48K mile warranty for the car as well...
It also has a complete suspension re-work (Bilstein Adjustable shocks/H&R Springs/H&R Sway Bars), and was cornerweighted at 3310# with 3/4 tank of gas and no driver in it... Car has Pilot Sport Exhaust/Cats as well as the custom tuning...
I was looking at a late model Carrera S when I got the C5. The deciding factor: I was willing to support an accented guy named Hans, but drew the line about sending his kids to private school.
I saw a Black turbo on the back of a flatbed yesterday around lunch time. It looked like they pulled it right off the dealer floor, it was EXTREMELY clean.
Well I actually did a cost comparison and the maintenance isn't much more on this thing than on a C5 when you're looking at tracking them. You replace the brakes a LOT less (Once per year) and of those I've spoken with to get a baseline, the cost of rotors and pads on Vettes will more than double that of the Porsche... The rest is covered under the extended warranty I bought...
Hard to Say, Juan. This car is making 510WHP and according to the P-car folks, it loses about 18% to the wheels (Really shocked by that one) so I'm packing probably 75# more HP and maybe 300# more weight. It's all-wheel drive and performance handling upgrades will aid in it being a good performer on track.
