I am new to this list and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Les Hankinson, I live in the Atlanta area (Alpharetta) and know Lamar (93Polo is his list name I think). I am 50 years young.
Cars: I pick up my new 2002 Silver ZO6 tonight. I have always wanted a Corvette and now I have one of the best :)
I plan to do some bolt on mods only to let it breath and exhaust a bit better and will be using this forum to get educated on the best/proven methods.
My other car is a 97 T/A M6 which ran high 10's on the "old" 355 motor (Vortech T trim blower) and I am close to completing the new motor - a 1000+ HP/TQ 383 with a YS trim blower making 23# pounds of boost. If the M6 can hold the power it should be the first documented 9 second 4th Gen M6 - but time will tell.
Lamar posted earlier this week about trying to get a cruise together for a run up to the N. Ga. mountains on Saturday morning - no responses yet so I assume with such short notice it will be hard to pull this off - maybe next time.
Enjoy the Z06! BE VERY CAREFUL about getting any of the BOTTOM FEEDER INDUCTION SYSTEMS!! Halltech makes a Z06 system that is not a bottom feeder. Your titanium exhaust is already pretty good and it is a $2000+ item so you might not want to remove it.
I just finished reading Vette magazine and they took a 2001 (I think) and had her dyno out a 335 RWHP and after an install of the Davidson Blackwing induction system and SLP Loudmouth C5 exhaust she went to around 354 RWHP. For just those mods thati is SHI__ and Gettin HP!! :)
Welcome to the forum.
I don't think you can find a nicer bunch of people. They are always willing to help you out with any questions you have.
Post some pictures of your car when you can, and don't forget to wave!! :)
Hey Les,
Welcome to the Forum and congrats on the Z06! I'm looking forward to checking it out.
I'm doing the Car Show thing with the ACFA guys tomorrow in Fayetteville, otherwise I would head to the mountains with you and Lamar. I went with some other Forum guys a couple of weeks ago and it was a blast. So count me in as a definite for next time.
Thanks guys - hopefully I am not the oldest here :) but trust me I do not act my age.
I picked the car up and put a few miles on it, very sweet especially in the turns. Those tires have a lot of stick and I find the car is a lot more neutral when pushed hard in a turn than my F-Body - but that is no surprise.
Thanks for the comments on the induction systems. I want to get one that has proven to work on the ZO6, also am considering long tube headers - I saw a silver one like the one I bought run a 12.1 with our GaFBA group with something like 500 miles on the car and a CAI and L/T's - very impressive.
Les
PS: Yes Travis Tritt lives out this way, never met the man :)
Welcome aboard Les. Glad to see another Atlanta f-body member here. There is a great group of guys here. I'm going to try and make BigToe's Christmas Party. He knows how to have fun. Besides anyone with a lift in their garage is cool  in my book :)
Congratulations and welcome to the Corvette family, Les! :D Glad you found the CorvetteForum. This is a great place to hang around with folks who know and love Corvettes!
Welcome to Corvetteforum Les, You have come to the best site for Corvettes
