Default Did the Dragon! (Finally)

Had a free afternoon Saturday so I headed down 129. There were more TN highway patrol there than at a UT home game! Honestly the first 5 miles or so, there was a THP sitting every 1/2 mile!!! Went to Deals Gap and turned around and back to Maryville. Next time would like to keep going on the 120 mile loop.
The road was lots of fun but not what people here had me thinking. Maybe IF you could hit it hard, it would be "stimulating" but with JOHNNY LAW sitting every few feet, the speed limit would have to do. A good first work-out for the C6!

Deal's Gap is one of those "gotta dos", but way overrated, imo...
the roads are the ones leading to the Gap from the NC
side out of Fontana or Robbinsville: few cops, (weekdays), few
cars, great medium to semi-high speed sweepers.

We've run every two lane in Western NC, eastern TN, north GA;
get on the NC side next time, imo!

Check their site before ya go. Dragon here, they had a semi wreck and all slowed down, THP wanted to prove a point.

Hey, if you're free on Sat Aug 18 - join up with Metrolina Corvettes out of Charlotte for a play day around Saluda, NC. We've got some 2-lane roads I'll bet you've never run (they don't appear on most state highway maps) that will have you screaming for more. Safety first though - please don't test the limits of your car. Send me a PM and I'll shoot you details.

And yes, I've done TOD and concur with your opinions...

We ran a couple of little roads on our motorcycles yesterday that were fun. Hwy 9 off of I-40...but the better road was Old Fort Rd/Bat Cave Rd. near Lake Lure/Chimney Rock.

The only reason we found Old Fort/Bat Cave roads was due to a back up of traffic on I-40 West...sitting in almost 100 degree weather wearing full gear..."next exit please"... .

Same thing I was thinking. You might have stirred up meet and greet if nothing else. Oh well, there is always next time.

We went for the first time in June, got there pretty early in the morning, and were able to crank it up. Glad we beat the rush.

This will mostly blow over after a while.

Glad you had a good time. The next time you're in the area, you'll have to meet up with the crew from ETCC/SMC. Look forward to meeting you. Stay safe out there!

I would like to come back down after the Leos have left and run the whole 120 mile loop.
