Default Headers & NC inspection/emissions

Hi -- Looking for some info from those running headers in north carolina. Can you pass the state inspection and emissions testing with them? If so, did you relocate your cats too? Thanks

In NC, all you have to do is plug into the computer and if the "check engine soon" light works and you have no codes, your okay. Or you can move to SC where we don't have those stinkie inspections or high taxes.

Depends on the county. It run anywhere from just a safety inspection (Brunswick County, but I think it's changing) to visual emissions (Iredell County, parts need to be there but doesn't necessarily need to work) to full visual and sniff test emissions (Mecklenburg County, Charlotte). Also depends on the year of your car or whether you have a computer on board for the sniff test.

Good Luck.

In Alamance Co., pre 1996 is a safety inspection. No exhaust sniffer. 1996 and above use the OBDII link perform the required checks. As yet neither my 91 Vette nor my wife's 2004 Jeep have had any visual emissions check.

I'm in Brunswick County...had no problem passing the new emissions testing required here now with my set up (see signature) with Hi Flo Cats...and I did install 02 Sims, in lieu of tuning out the rear 02 sensors...
