OK, cool, getting some responses. I'm in Carriere, MS, by way of New Orleans, you know, that Katrina thing. You guys in any clubs out here, or just meet up sporadically for hanging out, and discussing mechanic/install shops in the area that are both good and reasonable?

not in any clubs, but I would like to know of a shop in central MS that I could trust to work on the C3 and they would know what they are doing.

You're up there around Meridian huh? I don't know of any shops in MS at all. I got on the forum here and some guys turned me on to what seems like a very good shop "Futral Motorsports" in Walker, La. a little out of Baton Rouge, so that's about a 2 hour drive for me, but for minor add-ons I'll be driving there for my work. Sorry, I can't help with a local/closer shop for you.

all the ones I have talked to either said, "yep, we can do that" with no follow up questions wanted and you looked in the shop and saw a bunch of young bubbas hanging out. Or "let me call some people" in either case I decided for my peace of mind its easier to figure out myself.

Thought about looking for a club around here but have only had vette for 3 weeks and it spent 1.5 of that at shop having tranny changed.

I try to do as much of my work on my vehicles as I can. Frankly I don't trust that more than about 10% of the "mechanics" out there are as capable as I am (and I know that NONE of them cares about my vehicles as much as I do). They may have more experience but with excllent resources like this forum I can keep up. It at least lets me know what I'm talking about so I can set the mechanic shop straight if they're out in left field somewhere on something I choose not to work on.

I have a number of things to fix on my car such as the oil pressure sensor (plan to do the relocate mod), climate control display illumination (read that some electrical connections need resolder), and a few minor things. But with all the help available out here it shouldn't be a problem to do all these myself.

Ocean Springs, MS here....belong to MS Gulf Coast Corvette Club. Website is http://www.msgccc.com, but it's a little out of date. Do a lot of weekend trips out of local area, along with cruise-ins in and around the area.

OK, I just joined the MSGCCC this year, made a small run with them last December, small spirited run up to Monticello for a Christmas parade, all was fine. My work schedule keeps me from a lot of their monthly meetings, but first chance I get when I'm off I need to make a meeting. Going to Belle Rose, LA next weekend for the race card program for sure. Take care....

Yea I know the feeling,I'm not that mechanically inclined, but I'm learning. Having headers installed next week in Walker LA at Futral Motorsports, can't do it myself, so that's my choice. Right now I attempted to lower my Vette, no problem with the back, but front lowering bolts are frozen/rusted solid. Working on that. Take care...

Yes same here, have missed last 4-5 meetings because of work schedule, not to mention some events. Have to let me know how that race card program turns out.

Have done the climate control display fix already if you need any help/suggestions with that. In fact, just changed out all of my interior light bulbs except for the rear view mirror with blue LED's. Yes, I'm like you, rather do as much myself as possible.

Cool, sooner or later we'll meet up at a monthly meeting. I'll let you know how Belle Rose turns out next weekend, probably take pics while I'm there and post some here.

I see you have a 78 Pace Car.
I've got an 07 Pace Car.
It may be too far away, but there is a guy in our club that restores Vettes in Ruston, LA. I'll add a link to the club website. You can get on the message board
to contact him. Chuck Rhinehart is his name.
