Default Regional Events Coordinators needed

We've been discussing how Corvetteforum can help with local events recently. One of the best aspects of the forum is the get-togethers like the Cruise-ins. Local events can be a lot of fun also.

We've decided that the best way that Corvetteforum can help out with local events is to have "official" coordinators for different areas. Our goal isn't to become another NCCC but rather to have someone in each area that can be a central organizer/contact person for events. We're not going to try to control the events in any area, we just figure we can help them happen.

The Regional Events Coordinators will:

1. Organize local events
2. Publicize local events on CF - we can do front page notices and such
3. Be the keeper of a Corvetteforum banner
4. Make sure that regional events are added to the events calendars.
5. Contact Corvetteforum to get free t-shirts and other give-aways for local events.
6. Organize the regional aspects for national events like the Drag Race Weekend.
7. Anything else you see fit to create and/or encourage local gatherings of Corvetteforum members.

If you are interested, and have a history of setting up successful events in your area, please throw your name in the hat in this thread.

Yea, Jackdaroofer is a great director. Daroofer has got to be one of the best directors in the area. He is probably the main reason so many from Southeastern VA have had such a great time this past year.
Were are lloking forward to another great year Mr. Roofer.

History of planning successful events, huh? I'm just back from my most recent event -- the Cape Canaveral Corvette Cruise to watch the night launch of STS-108. Not totally successful, of course, because the shuttle launch has been delayed until Tuesday and most of us couldn't wait. ;)

But I think we set a record on taking up bandwidth talking about it in the SE Events section!

If that doesn't disqualify me, I'll be glad to take part of Alabama.

I'm sure Val (CathDoc) would be glad to do part of the state as well, now that he's in Mobile and has a couple of Hooter's events under his belt.

If nobody else signs up from the Heart of Dixie, Val and I could split the state in half. If others chime in, we can divide into smaller geographical areas.

Just let us know what you need.

Like I said in the OT thread, I will be happy to take care of the Nashville and BG areas. I think I can promote the NCM events like I already do. I also get a lot of the Nashville gigs going, and am planning on another sometime in the near future. I have done several successful events for the Nashville group. I hope I can help.

Let me know.

Hi Roofer!

You better check the Pacific Forum again cause you're the one being challenged and picked on now! :yesnod:

Didn't Troy tell you guys the position pays $500k? I hope I didn't give anything away.... :D I wish the attitude out here in the Pacific was as cooperative as you guys have in the Southeast....

Terry

After reading the Pacific thread, I think I'll withdraw my name

The beauty of the FORUM for me has been the lack of politics and petty infighting you find in most clubs.

For us, anyone who want's to schedule an event can just do it!

If this REGIONAL COORDINATOR thing is going to create the "club thing"

COUNT ME OUT!

Hope you guys out west can avoid it too!

Jack, just because there are a couple of "up tight" guys out there fighting for a "job" that is too big for one guy is no reason for you to pull your name out of the hat!! As far as we are concerned here in the Southeast section is having someone set up a nice cruise so everyone can enjoy their vettes and the good company! :yesnod: I really don't understand all of that fighting going on over there on the left coast. I used to think that California was a great place to live when I lived there. :) Bottom line is Jack you do a great job! :yesnod: :yesnod:

Jack,

Don't give up on Troy's plan, many of us think it could be a very good one! You guys really are a model for the rest of the country to follow with your refreshing attitude about each other and what an "Events Coordinator" should be.

In my opinion, Troy just needs to be very careful about the amount of territory he assigns to each "Coordinator," and to be doubly sure he doesn't select people who may want to intrude, on behalf of the Forum, in other people's events. That has been the fear from many in the Pacific and would guarantee the failure of his project....

You guys visit our website http://www.corvetteforum.net/events/soca and come out to the BIG events we're involved with next August! I'll promise you all a great time and give ya a personal tour! :seeya

Jack,

Next time you use one of my lines, give me credit. :yesnod:

I wouldn't let what is happening in the Pacific Region influence your decision or affect the good times you all seem to be having back East. I definitely agree with your perspective, as do, I believe, the majority of the "I don't have to show you no stinkin' badges" characters out West...
