Got them on my car. I am at the courthouse for work at least twice a month which is right across the street from the main police headquarters...combine that with my spirited driving habits...just one less excuse I have to get pulled over.
I've got the bubble cover on over top the plate - side benefit is that it will take the hit with a minor front end bump, since we all have to "use the force" in figuring out where the bumper ends.
I have the factory cover if I ever move from the Old Dominion.
From: North Strand, NMB, SC; Retired x 2 (US Army: 70-90 AD) (US Army: 91-16 DAC); yea, I'm old.
I have gotten one warning and one ticket (judge dismissed the ticket; trooper was po'd) for no front plate.
I don't mount my front plate while tooling around town; the local LEOs don't hassle us; it's just the interstate LEOs who write you up for not having one.
I put my nylon mask on whenever I take it on the interstate and now I am putting my plate on the dash until I am out of Virginia.
I have a matching color surround and I think it looks ok. Plus I really don't want the hassle or give them a reason to pull me over.
Yep, hit the nail on the head on that one. If you're going to stop me because you notice a nice car, I'm going to do everything I can to make sure it's a waste of BOTH of our time - i.e. no tickets. I purchased the matching color plate shortly after I bought the car. I think it looks good AND it keeps me legal.
Unfortunately, still in this day and age as a black man, when I get stopped while driving a nice vehicle, the first thing LEO asks me is "who does this vehicle belong to?" Yeah, it seems that at 46 years of age, three degrees in engineering and owning my own consulting firm, some folks still only see ... well ... I use the front plate because it's one less reason to stop me - I don't care how it makes my car look, just so long as it's legal. For those of you that just drive illegally without a front plate, I can only say, "walk in my shoes for a while" - flaunting the law just isn't healthy for me.
Now if we can just get these VA traffic violation fines repealed....
type to you later....

Had my 2000 Coupe less than three weeks with no front plate before I got stopped by the State Guys along I-64. Told him the car was new to me and just hadn't gotten it on yet. He didn't care, wrote me up anyway. $70.00 check sent to Goochland County and I would rather flush that $$$ down the toilet as give it to them.
I put mine on the next day and it will stay on. Like most of you, don't need to draw attention to myself anyway!
