Default [Recap] Spring Skyline '08

Did I mention previously that we had some rain? Well, that didn't stop the brave souls that turned out in their 50 Corvettes for the cruise. As you know, we dedicated this cruise to the memory of Chuck McConnell, aka FELNGR8 and I think this was a factor in the better then expected turnout (when you consider the weather).

We collected $1,020.00 for Blue Ridge Hospice, but that number grew a few times as we were giving out door prizes. Some of our T-shirt proceeds also go to BRH, and I came home to find an e-mail from my boss telling me he has a $100.00 check for us. So, I figure we raised at least $1,200.00+ for BRH. That is a great job by all the participants! You folks never cease to amaze me with your generosity.

I also want to send out a special thanks to Val and the rest of SVCC for doing such a wonderful job of improving these cruises each and every time! You all are the best... And Val - those buttons with Chuck's picture on them was a wonderful touch. You never seem to miss the icing on the cake...

All our plans for a nice group shot on the hillside went bye the bye with the rain so here's a pic of the brave group from Saturday in the parking lot of Luray Caverns:

OK - maybe that's not all of them... I do remember some making a potty run...

Chuck's daughter Robin and her daughter Devon attended the cruise and Robin drove Chuck's beast, and did a darn fine job of it!

Here they are:

We're certainly going to miss Chuck but I'm certain he was smiling this past Saturday...

Thanks again for all of the support you all have given to these cruises over the years. See you in the fall!

Why are these people having so much fun? Because this is THE best cruise of the year (tied with the Fall Skyline). Thanks to everyone who made it happen- Jim, Val, Andy, Ron & many others! Also thanks to Chuck's spirit for being with us in the form of his daughter & granddaughter. There are lots more pics in the NE section. Mine are listed under the hubby's ID (ol'55). We'll see you all in the Fall, rain or shine!

I really wish my business trip could have waited a little longer, I hated to miss the cruise... Hopefully work is a bit more flexible when the fall cruise comes around...

Glad to hear everyone had fun!
